Thanks for the reply. I hope that we are ending the therapy thread soon. I don't want to tell people what to discuss as long as it is relevant to ebmm and in good taste.

You suggested that maybe we cut back on our exposure to new ideas on the Forum. How about instead that we continue and that people try to understand that it is a work in progress and that maybe there are more than fans on this board.(competitiors?) Lets also keep in mind that when we extend ourselves beyond the NorMal communication and involvement with our end users and supporters that we really don't respond well to whining, bitching and dissing. We would be better off just leaving this forum to you guys to speculate and second guess. I think that there is value for both parties.

True enough, some competitors have hundreds of models, some varying by hundreds of dollars for a few changes.

EBMM has a few models, they have been in production for years, the quality has been the same high level for years.

Let them get it right the first time, that way you are not seriously annoyed if a "new and improved" model comes out the next year.

Is there anything more annoying than laying out your hard earned money only to wish you had waited six months for the new model?

Well, this is an interesting thread.

Can someone point me to where Norm was dissing and whining and bitching? I looked back through a few of his posts and couldn't find any instances.

All I know is that it looks great and that purple burst thing is just WOW. lol.

I've never played a Morse, so I don't really know what the switches do to what and when. I suppose that if Steve decides to not have the switch, it's going to be based on his experience with the prototypes and it seems logical to me that there isn't any information to give on it until something is actually decided upon anyway. No matter who might be lurking around.

I'm definately excited to see some cool new ideas going on with the Mahogony Axis(must, not, drool. lol), and even considering such an aggressive fit and finish on this guitar.

I guess now all I can hope for is an additional option on the JPMs to have the Air Norton and Steve's Special installed for the classic JP tone to mix with the new JP tone. ;)

Missing Bridge Toggle Take

I really would have liked to be a fly on the wall (ooh look, a pile of fresh dog poo) during the discussions of losing the bridge toggle.

That to me, makes so much sense from a sales standpoint and coming to an agreement must have been an interesting procees. If Big Poppa ever feels it's okay to share that story it sure would have my attention.

Thanks brown-noser. :)

Actually I already saw that, and I fail to see how it could be characterized as dissing, whining, or bitching.

hello kids
one of Steve's kpet peeves when he sees his guitars played by others the switch is always in the ugly position. The other reason is that some people hit the switch with thier right hand. Steve just wanted to try the 5 way...we will see....It is still a work in progress.....how about a hint for the latest change purple bobbins

Oops, sorry. I meant Rosewood. Just typed the wrong wood. I even thought rosewood in my head when I typed it. LOL

But, there you have it... Mahogony Axis.... OH YEAH!!!! To drool for. lol I think the Rosewood Axis is going to be droolworthy too. No way I'm not going to try and get one of those as soon as I can.

Greetings from the UK, BP!

Its interesting to hear that Steve takes into consideration the needs of other players considering that from what you've said in the past, you strive to supply the artist with the guitar that is perfect for them.

When you work with your endorsing artists and they say something like 'I don't know if your customers will find this neck profile/switching system/death ray/candleabra to their tastes', would you tell them to carry on and make what's best for them?

PS: Please please please can you send a y2d prototype over to Strings n' Things for the London Guitar Show? :D

from dictoinary.com
n : a winder around which thread or tape or film or other flexible materials can be wound [syn: spool, reel]
1. A spool or reel that holds thread or yarn for spinning, weaving, knitting, sewing, or making lace.
2. Narrow braid formerly used as trimming.

So from #2 I first thought about the binding.

jon is always right. thanks for enhancing my vo-q-bu-larry

Answer from the UK

WE make the guitar for the artist. ALWAYS. This is a situation where we are making a second guitar for Steve that we will make available to the general public unlike double neck Petruccis, three string sting rays (Tony Levin), electric sitars for NIgel Tufnel, and many many more over the years. Steve was looking for a second guitar with different sounds than his first and a little cooler look. This isn't a case where he is displeased with his original guitar at all. He will still play old standby most of the time. Once we got rid of the first toggle switch it became really easy to give him what he needed with a more standard switching situation.

When we are designing for an artist we will always let them know the pluses and minus including potential comsumer acceptance for what they want but the buck stops with them for what the final product is. Steve wanted along with the new look of this guitar to be very easy to get the 5 main combinations he needs. He said recently that this guitar could very well do the intire Deep Purple set.
