This may be a bit off-topic since this was way before Ball took over, but I post here in case anyone might be interested.
My father was a sales guy for the original Music Man and traveled 8 states. Each sales rep got one of the first batch of Fender Stingray I guitars, and my dad ended up with serial #3.
It ended up in my collection and has been traveling around with me for 30 years. It's only been played once, by Albert Lee during some kind sales suite event.

He also acquired Stingray Bass #1, but sadly it was stolen from our house when we first moved to Virginia in 1980.
It's not really doing a whole lot sitting in my basement, so we're looking for a collector. Please pass the word.
