I have often thought of buying a beaten up Axis and having is re-finished in Gold. Would be pretty sweet!

I'd love to get a beat up AL and have it refinished in crackled (aged) Gold top a la Les Paul. 3 Cream MM90's.
My mate can do this finish VERY well!

Anybody have a battered AL for sale ? - cash waiting!

Just as I suspected, a little overpriced but still a nice guitar. 7 offers but not enough to make him part with it!

Ah yes, the Vintage Gold EVH. This should look familiar to those who have been here for a while. I posted this guitar here just about a year ago -- nearly to the day as I now see.

I just wanted to address a few things that I've read. I'm not trying to be defensive in any way, but just wanted to respond to a couple of points.

The price: Yes, it was high. But just as Krell said -- it's worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I deliberately offered it high because I'm not really thrilled about getting rid of it. I only offered it up because another investment opportunity came around and I could use the extra cash. I don't really need to sell it, but I could use the money for some good. Since it didn't sell, I'm happy to put it back in the closet for a while and hold on to it. ( Yes Norrin Radd, I'm a collector. You probably don't want to hear what else I have and don't play. ;) ) I know of one other for sale right now and it's being offered at $8000. I had a couple nice offers but again -- not enough to make me want to part with this guitar.

The shipping: Shipping price included insurance. Does anyone really know what insurance runs on an item of that value and a package that large? I checked it out with UPS before I set the shipping price. Would you sell a Ferrari for $85K and then ship it free just because it was an expensive item?

The skinny: I'm pretty sure I'll have this guitar for a long time. However, if at any point you or anyone else is interested in this axe -- you know where to find me. I don't have many posts but I've been in an out of the forums since I joined last year. I don't have a lot of time for posting but I am around. I love these guitars and have been collecting them on and off since they were introduced in the early 90's. I currently have an amber Axis that I would consider one of my top 5 guitar purchases of all time for a variety of reasons. It's my main playing electric and I feel just as attached to that as I do to the EVH.

At any rate -- rock on!

All valid points on I think we all respect your views. Why don't you drop by more often and maybe post some more pics of your EBMMs?

I would rather buy a new Gibson than that one!

I've not seen a modern (last 15 years or so) LP with a top like that one. Holy smokes!

I am not a G!b$0n fan by any stretch, but that Paul made me drool nonetheless.
