Vintage Sunburst Classics?

came across this:

the description says it's a Tobbaco sunburst but it's clearly a 3 tone sunburst.
is that a one off, a trick of the light or what?

This is a Vintage Sunburst, there is a lot more red in it an the black-red transition covers the body more .
I always thought that a Tobacco Sunburst was just two tone, i asked about the finish of mine in the serial number data base.

I have a '00 Vintage Sunburst Ray. it's indeed the traditional 3TS but what puzzles me is that this colour option is not listed as availiable on the Classics and well - there it is...

seriously thinking of selling a couple of basses to finance a Classic if I can get one with a 3TS. I'd take a maple board though.


btw, I've noticed with EBMM finishes sometimes Tobacco burst will denote the classic 50's 2 tone burst and sometime it's like a 2 tone Honeyburst (amber on the inside, brown in the rim of the burst).

That bass looks to be at Drum City/ Guitar Land? I was there yesterday and would have checked it out for you had I known it was there.

Think thats the beauty of a Burst finish, no two will ever look the same, theres always going to be more or less of something on the blend.
If there is red in it its a Vintage Burst or three tone burst how ever much or less of it there is.
Honey burst is like Tobacco burst two tone burst but the difference being its more of a brown on the edges rather than black and with a lighter lacquer.

That Classic is tobacco - pictures can make my tobacco basses look like that.
