hey,

why is it that i see so few stingrays in the vintage sunburst finish with a maple neck. 90% of V.S's that i see have a rosewood neck, which i dont understand as IMO the maple brings out the colours alot better on the V.S.

Is this just just like combination that no one likes, except me?

For me on a Ray, the classic combination of sunburst is with a maple board.

Vintage burst with a maple board is probably my favorite combination - to me it's the classic Stingray look.

Big +1. I'm a die hard rosewood fan but I'm pretty
sure my next bass will be a VB w/Maple SR4HS. It's
one of the only colors I find looks better w/maple
besides black and white.

Caca, beautiful 2-bander there!

I voted Black Cerry in the poll. But deep, deep down, my all time favouruites would have to be:

Natural with Maple

Sunburst with Maple

Black with Maple

:D :D :D

EDIT: All with Black pickguards of course :)

You know,

As much as I love my white basses, I must admit that I almost got both of my Rays as sunburst with maple...

But I thought that was a common preference, so I didn't! Anyway, I'm sold on natural. The next SR4 for me will be a natural, 2EQ, black pickguard---like the old days! :D

BTW,

The only famous person I've seen with a bass as such (other than Louis Johnson possibly) was Gary Grainger. He played with John Scofield in the eighties on albums Blue Matter, Pick Hits Live, and Loud Jazz. Good Stuff!!! Man, what a tone!!!
