My B-15 doesn't seem to be cutting it volume-wise, much to my dismay. I just picked up a MusicMan HD-130 (early version with the 12ax7 in the pre), and I'm curious as to what else you guys might like in the vintage vein.

BTW, been off-line for a spell due to an apparently porn-related virus at the work PC... :D

MM made nice amps, but even 130 watts is going to be struggling in a rock environment. High powered tube amps (eg. Ampeg, Mesa) sound great, but weigh a ton. Personally, I think a quality tube preamp into a solid state power amp is a more practical option, and will cut the mustard in any situation.

the B-15's are wonderfull in a studio environment but are not powerfull enough for most gigs. SVT's are the classic old school tube aproach but they are miserable to lug.Solid state amps provide lots of power with little weight or bulk .They make a lot of sense to me - I got rid of my large Ampeg bins years ago.
