Hey everyone, I was hoping some fellows might know an answer for me.
I just purchased the EB volume pedal (#6166)....After checking this websites pedal options...I noticed that its designed for passive instruments. I have a 2001 Musicman 5-string stingray and of course its active.

Does anyone have any experience with this issue? If I use the pedal, am i diminishing my bass signal when it goes into the amp?

It seems I should be using the #6167 model from the description, but no music store's carry them...not even Guitar Center...hrm har hrm.

I could really use some help if I need to return the darn pedal....I don't want to be cutting my signal.

Thanks for any and all help you may provide friends!

i dont think it will make a difference. if it was active it would just add more signal, so passive shouldnt diminish or add anything from the source.

but thats just my guess.

Attenuation

The only thing a volume pedal does, even the 6167, is attenuate (cut) the output signal. It's a variable resistor (like the volume knob on a passive instrument), hooked up to a pedal. Something that amplifies the signal would be an....amplifier. Some effects pedals have level controls which boost the signal gain, but that's done by circuitry which usually uses small amplifiers called op-amps. I hope this helps.
