volume pedal tuner out

hi, this is my first time to post, and i have a little problem.
searching the forum i saw that someone else had the same problem, but there was no solution given.

i use the 6166 mono volume pedal for guitar, and when i plug in a tuner to the tuner out jack, one of two things happen:

1., with my older seiko tuner, the sound gets very "buffered", i guess, the overall amp volume gets cut in half, the bass is exaggerated and the treble pretty much disappears. a very muddy tone, basically.

2., with a newer korg ga-30 tuner the sound is distorted, like the other post had described.

the pedal is stock, no modifications have been done to it.

can anyone offer some advice, or better yet a fix?

Andy,

We design the volume pedals to be as transparent as possible. There are some many tuners on the market that will add noise to the signal that we do not recommend one over the other. Try and find a tuner that has a higher impedance input that will color the sound the least. A good rule of thumb would be plug the pedal in to the amp by itself. You will notice that there is no added noise or coloration. If you add a tuner and there is noticeable amounts of noise and or volume loss that tuner likely has a lower impedence input and is solely responsible for the noise added to the signal.

the pedal is definetly transparent.

do you have any recommendations on a tuner that would work well. i know you said high impedance, but maybe you could point me in the direction of a particular model?

Andy,

We really do not have a recommendation.
Best thing to do is call your local music store and see what they have. Bring your VP and test a couple out. They may be able to help you find one with a cleaner input.

The Boss Tu-2 is a great tuner ($100) but I would use it in line as opposed to using the tuner out of the VP. Using the Tu-2 in line will allow you to use the bypass switch when you want to play.

I'd agree with Derek on the TU2 i've had one for a little over 4 years, and stomped the hell out of it and it works like a charm. I also put it at the end of my chain to act as a kill switch for my overall signal so I can be quiet in between songs.
