No Satriani, Eric Johnson or Paul Gilbert??

I love Ace don't get me wrong...but I think the 3 mentioned above should have been on that list before Ace.

Luke gets my vote either way.

Where's Morse?

Or Vai, or Slash, or Gary Moore, or Petrucci? Or Michelin Man Malmsteen?

Was this poll set up by the Queen fan club? May is good but he's not three times better than Hendrix.

that poll is horrible...

it would be more appropriately named:

"who is the best rock guitar icon [who is not necessarily a very good guitar player at all]?"

those types of polls are what annoy me about all of the guitar magazines out there and the harmony central forum especially...

just because a guitar player is popular doesn't mean he's the best

Yeah...a whole heap of names missing that deserve to be there. Interesting that we guitarists have a fascination with who is the "best" guitarist, when music and the performance/interpretation of music are such a subjective beasts (ie define "best").

I chose to interpret this as who is your "fave" guitarists. No brainer: Luke!

Luke is the man, he got my vote.

But l find these list kind of strange. How do you vote for the greatest guitarist????? do you vote based on speed? technique? popularity? how much they weigh? (Michelin Man Malmsteen, classic) this is more which guitarist you like or idolize more. I like to think l vote for the most well rounded guitar player, (no not a Malmsteen joke), and l think on this list, it would have to be Luke, or maybe Jimmy Page (for his session work and led Zepp).

Scott.

Is this from the same guys that put the solo from "Smells like teen spirit" before "Stairway"?

Was there a solo in "Smells like teen spirit"?!?!?!?!?!

But personally l'm glad their was Nirvana, cause they gave us Dave Grohl and Foo Fighters, love him or hate him, but he's band ROCKS!!!!!!!!
