Hi there,
Edit: Thank you for the add, mods and members. I have read threads on here many times and found this to be a place of incredible knowledge.
I have a VP volume pedal which is acting up a bit.
Full disclosure: I had it modded about 18 months ago to add a minimum volume pot, but the issue has only arisen in the last month or so.
The problem is that if I increase volume too quickly (ie full sweep in less than about a second), the max volume is lower than if I sweep up more slowly. I thought it was my ears tricking me, but I ran a reference note through it and used a dB meter to check, and the problem is consistently repeatable. (Heel down - 62/63dB; toe down slow - 79/80dB; toe down fast - 75dB)
No crackles of any kind, so I'm inclined to think it's not the pot.
Is this anything anyone recognizes? I'm guessing something to do with slippage of the cord on the pot spindle, but I don't know what to look out for (or how to fix it) or how this would be happen so consistently if it's slippage.
Help please! And thank you in advance.
