Hey Guys...

Let me start off by saying this is mr faithful... the VPjr that i'm talking about is about 10 years old and has been on EVERY board i've made in the last 10 years. It's been used every week at church and has been run through the paces if you will...

Last night at band practice i was playing and was having issues with my amp... ended up blowing my PI tube because of a surge in the house... GREAT!!!

After i replaced the tube i discovered i was getting some scratchy volume spikes and tracked it down to my Volume Pedal.
When the pedal is off... HEEL DOWN... i get some bleed through...
and when i begin to move TOE Down... i get really scrathy volumes and on a few occasions i get ZERO volume and i roll it back and it begins to give me really bad volume spikes and cuts...

Has anyone experienced anything like this and if so are there any suggestions to resolve it quickly or is this pedal DONE?

Like i said... no complaints about this pedal at all... I've had two of these babies and actually gave one away last year 'cause i know they are work horses... so just trying to figure out if this is a quick fix or a quick trip to GC....

I'd probably start off with just shooting it with a little de-oxit/contact cleaner and see what happens. I've had my Ernie Ball VP for at least 10 years also, and the only thing I've had to do in that time is replace the string (twice). No (volume) pot issues yet.

such a simple pedal, i don't see any way it could be "DONE". sounds like worst case scenerio it needs a new pot. easy fix.

The Deoxit suggestion is a good one- takes care of 99% of pot issues. Failing that, sounds like a pot replacement. Shouldn't be a big deal.

CS can hook you up.

yeah that's what i was thinking...

and glad you guys saw it as me loving the pedal and just trying to trouble shoot possible ideas before contacting CS... or ultimately buying a new one...

That was my worst fear as i've got to buy a new OD pedal now too...

a power surger killed my OD last night... :/

Hey Peterd79,
You could purchase the pot and/or string & spring kit online here:
Ernie Ball | Pedals

Or you could send it to our factory for repair, shoot me an e-mail if you decide to send it in and I will reply with the pedal return form
Cheers,

UPdate...
the EB VPs are built like a flippin tank...

I pulled the pedal apart and used some DeOxit and let it soak for a while and when i finally put it back on my board last night to test it.... BAaaada BING... it was like new... so smooth and responsive and no cracking or loss of volume at all...

My hat goes off to Pete Dubaldo and Billy *CS* for being so quick to get me information on replacement parts and repairs. This place is incredible and what service...

EBMM Customer Service is top notch... +10
