I must admit that my dad bought me my first bass for my 18th birthday - cheap and cheerful - he was sceptical about me wanting to play another instrument, as he had already wasted hundreds of £'s on piano lessons when I was a kid!!

i was also thinkin bout buying orange
there is now a dealer in this here podunk town o wichitaaaw ( we pronounce with the w on the end its realy wichita)
anywho
i went to the orange dealer and they showed me a 30 watt orange that could power a swr goliath III, 4 10s and a 1 15
on three it sounded liek a large amphead
and the orange is cheaper than 800rb
but it sounds more middy than i want the thump punch of GK

If you try to power a Goliath III quad with 30 watts you're a sure bet to drive the amp into clipping at anything more than bedroom volumes, which will mean the speakers will go bye bye. That's a ridiculous pairing of amp and cabinet, especially if you're talking about adding another 15" bin as well.

depends, normally yes, you would destroy it in a heartbeat, but if it's the ad30, that's a loud freakin amp, with tons of headroom. similar to the vox ac30,

but bear in mind, it's a guitar amp. and if you are getting an orange, i know where you can get an OD120 (120w all tube), delivered for 760 dollars US, and that's vintage 70's orange too. the good stuff!.
