Yea, Ed Friedland is awesome for recording all of those videos, I went through all of them extensively before I decided that I dug the Big Als tone the best for me + the versatility is amazing. So props to him for that, If those videos weren't up I probably would have gone with the Stingray HH (not saying that would have been a bad thing though)
I was kind of hoping more of something along the line of I dunno, just people playing the Al and messin with the tones and whatnot. Pretty ridiculous request I suppose, the bass hasn't even been on the market for long. But if anyone of you Big Al enthusiasts have recorded yourself playing the AL, Send them songs my way!

Well, you know there just aren't many of them out there at the moment.

And I'm personally very lazy about doing such things (plus I kind of suck). I think the tones Ed was getting were representative of what you can expect from the SSS fiver.

I have (of course) turned mine into a thump machine, strung with flats and so it's a bit different from what Ed's got going in the vids. Still versatile as all get-out, though, and I think even though the official honeymoon period might be over, I'm still playing nothing but the Big Al 5.

(Don't worry, there's a Bongo sitting right here.)

My wait was absolute torture. The night before we were to go into the studio for the first time, I was setting up my main bass which was a Spector. I accidentally riped out the wiring for the battery on it while trying to change the battery (poor battery design). I ended up going out buying a soldering gun at 11:30 pm and had fix that bass that night because I had to be at the studio to lay down scratch tracks the next day. I had already been thinking about buying a Stingray, and my old lady asked why don't I just buy another bass. Not something you expect to hear from your better half on the spur of the moment. I knew the local GC didn't have the color bass I wanted, so I called the number on their main website and spoke with someone to make sure they had the bass I wanted. I took the dive, and ordered the bass. I knew it wouldn't be in before I laid down my bass tracks, but they said it was in stock so I would have it by the end of the week. I was still excited as hell because my band was opening up for 12 Stones the following weekend, and I was going to get to play my new Stingray for this show. Two days later I got a phone call from GC, and they told me that the bass I ordered (Stingray 4 HH Black Cherry Burst) was not in stock, and that the bass would have to be made and then shipped to me. That was the first week of April, they told me to expect the bass around the first of August. They asked if I wanted to change or cancel my order, but I decided not to because I knew the wait would be worth it. I tried to put the frustration of waiting out of my head, but it was hard, especially since my band started getting on a lot of good shows opening for national acts during that time and all I wanted to do was play my new Stingray. To make things worse, My guitarist (and brother) started taking interest in Musicman because all I did was talk about them. Three weeks before mine came in, he bought a BFR JP6, and rubbed it in every day! Eventually my bass came in the last day of July, five minutes before practice. I unboxed it, and started practice. The next day we opened for National recording artist Framing Hanley, and I got to pop my Stingrays Cherry with a good show! There are several ways to avoid the wait time, but if you have you heart set on a certain bass, the wait will only make you appreciate that bass even more. The time you wait will pass by soon, and you'll be happy as hell!!! And just to throw in some gig spammage, I'll be playing that bass next Saturday when my band opens for Tantric at Halligans in West Ashley just in case any of yall will be around the Charleston area, and my guitarist will be playing his JP6 as well.

Don't get me wrong, I don't mean any disrespect to EBMM. I was just trying to show off my awesome craigslist find..
I figured since EBMM doesn't manufacture any keyboard instruments it would be alright.. I would never post a picture of another manufacturers bass or guitar here (wouldn't want to embarrass myself with an inferior instrument)
Believe me, if my BigAl5 was here, I wouldn't be wasting my time with frivolous toys, I would be thumpin the low end for sure!

The best thing is to not think about it too much. I am lucky with some of the others here in that I have others to keep me occupied in the meantime.

Very cool!!! for some reason the Organ solo in "Riders on the storm" come into mind! Ray Manzarek could play some awesome bass lines on his Organ (Hmm... that sounds a bit funny,I would not recommend saying that in public )

Happy Birthday! You're dealer will probably be able to update you on the arrival timeline... but speaking of ballparks, there's a possible venue for the organ gig...:D
