Every store is trying to be an "Amazon" ... sears target etc do it too. They hope to get a cut of the purchase through.

Be interesting to see how this one rings up on the Walmart Savings Catcher app.

So did Music 123 have to get permission from Music Man to sell the items through Walmart? I'm not against Walmart per say but it seems odd you have an authorized dealer selling their products through a second store. But I what if the manufacturers didn't want that. Do they have a say to where they can tell Music 123 not to sell their stuff through a second hand store?

Its Music123 selling the item...

Check the details. Walmart does not service, return, ship etc

Music Man StingRay 5 5-String Bass Guitar Pearl Blue Maple Fretboard - Walmart.com

Music123 is playing Walmart a bit of the sale in return for Walmart advertising their product & grabbing a sale they may not have gotten... afterall... more shoppers on Walmart.com than Music123.com

Id imagine its a long shot that people would buy a bass like that but hey, it doesn't cost Walmart a penny to advertise for Music123 & Music123 is getting some more visibility... win\win

If you don't mind my asking BP. As the manufacturer, does that bother you or others though? I have heard some say they view Walmart selling their stuff even though it goes through Music 123, as devaluing their brand because Walmart is primarily known for selling lower quality stuff for value. Obviously Music Man is not lower quality but is some of the best stuff made in the US.

I guess it could be a blessing because more eyes see the product but if more eyes are seeing the product at a store known for lower value items I was wondering if that hurts the perception of the value of the brand for the casual person who doesn't know the true value or quality of Music Man.

I hear ya. Thanks for responding to my question. I was reading a comparison the other day between Coca-Cola and Arbuckle coffee. Arbuckle coffee at one time used to be the #1 coffee in America but refused to advertise and there name, as a result, is now not anywhere near as known. By contrast, Coca-Cola is known so well because they advertise. So I guess in retail, that is the important thing is getting your brands name out there as much as possible.

You guys are so lucky, enjoy the fact that your instruments are so accessible and reasonably priced, if you convert dollar to pounds sterling prices at the moment and had to buy in the UK to get your Stingray, it is going to cost you on average $2200. A Ray to a lot of people is a serious entry level outlay, I am very jealous of your Walmart's and GC's etc... rock on Brothers.
