Just wanted to post a couple pics of my latest garage project. It's an exact replica of my Stingray 5, just a little bigger.
Hanging on the wall, it doesn't look too imposing...
Here's me with it sitting down. I'm 6'1" just for reference...
Now I'm jammin' down on some funk...
Details:
It started out as a 4x8 piece of 3/4"MDF. Drew the outline of the bass onto the wood, cut it out, and started painting. All the knobs, strings, bridge, frets, etc. are hand-carved into the wood and painted to match a picture I took of my bass. It's painted to match the shading, etc that was present in the picture. Even the pearloid pickguard is painted in pearescent paint. The Ernie Ball logo is carved into the headstock, and the pickguard has screws in the same places as the real bass.
Just a fun project that I wanted to share. My wife did a lot of the painting on the body and pickguard. I worked on the headstock, neck, bridge, etc. Hopefully you'll get a kick out of the pictures. Everyone that comes in the garage sure gets a good laugh out of it. Enjoy!
{edit} pictures were HUGE. Sorry.
