Want to swap pickguards on my SUB

I am unclear on if a Stingray pickguard is a direct fit or not. Does anyone make an aftermarket pickguard specifically for the SUB?

Yep, I was directed here for the answer to the SUB pickguard thing. I like it here! My hope is to own a Stingray and a Bongo one day.

I hear ya I just got a foot in the door with a SUB myself
Im still waiting on delivery from a trade

I used this bass at band practice (at stage volume) and everyone dug it. I took it to the next gig and HATED it! I run my amp "flat" and all I could hear were lows and clanky highs. On blues stuff, it just sounded weird. I was not happy. I had put it up for trade, determined to get something else to play with. The guys I play with told me not to ditch it, that they liked it.

I gave it a proper set up, experimented with the pickup height and now I am quite happy with it! Once I decided to keep it, the faux skidplate P/G had to go!

I just got my SUB!!
Interestingly I had to lower the pup on the e string
it was too close and muddy but if you lower it a few mms you get a nice full tone from your low end

this and tweaking the tone knobs = amazing tone!!

It didnt come with a pickguard (which is okay for the most part still looks kinda cool)
replaced the chrome dome knobs with some faux "radio" knobs
im going to take pics when the pearl white pickguard arrives sometime next week (when I have both my camera back and the money to order it )

That's excellent! Where did you find the knobs?

I bought a cheapo bass on TB
and instead of the regular barrel knobs that come on a P bass
I had these on it
I almost threw them in the trash as I thought they were pretty cheesy looking

nonetheless I ended up trading 2 P basses for the SUB and man am I happy!!!
I love this thing
I love the 2 band preamp
and so far I am really digging the Musicman sound and construction
Maybe I am in the minority but I like the finish
I get the whole tough as nails Sport Utility thing
it works!!!!
