That's what I'm using at work. Not only is it fast (64 bit processing), it NEVER crashes. System OS X rocks as hard as EBMM basses!

There is alway Linux that can be ran on your PC. It too is as safe as a Mac.

what's yer opinion on the new little mini mac ?

It depends on what your intended use. What do you want to do with it?

I personally have an iMac G5 and it really is a great computer.

I am using a Mac. I run Linux servers.

I have used Linux very little in the graphical environment. Red Hat 9.0 which is free will compete with Windows. It will not suffer hijacking and viruses like Windows does.
It is tougher to make PC hardware work with. Not totally GUI ( graphical user interface). If you have skills at a command prompt. It is the cheapest and best computing solution. It won't run Windows software. There is for the most part software available that will do the same thing as Windows software does. One exception I can think of is Acccess database. If you need it then you need Windows.

Linux will run on a computer with less processor and RAM than even Windows and perform.

Anyone that wants to understand an learn ( much like playin bass ) Can master Linux and do everything for free.

The Mac or Apple since OSX has been conceived is just like a Windows computer for ease of use. It still will not do Access database. It will replace a Windows machine for any other purpose. It will not run the same software. However there is software available to do anything you want on the Mac.

Both Linux and Mac can use a free program called Open Office. The Mac can do Office for Mac which is like running MicroSoft Office without Access database.

Neither Linux or Mac are subject to the virus, adware or hijacking that Windows is.

Windows can work well if you understand it much like you do the Mac or Linux.
You use Windows on the Internet you better be good at understanding what goes on in the Internet world. You do you may be just as happy with your Windows computer as I am my Mac.

Like BP said life is choices. Yours is yours and mine is mine.

Now I promise I am going back to bass playing.
Any computer aide needed use a PM or email. I am always happy to help.

Remember, OSX is really just FreeBSD with a fancy window manager, and some custom Apple added libraries. OSX can run Linux and BSD software, which expands the already large Mac software library. Also, the BSD kernel is one of the most stable, secure kernels available, and FreeBSD runs like a bullet on older PC hardware; no wonder its so fast on modern Mac hardware!

Some Windows programs (like MS office) run quite well under Linux using various version of Wine:

www.codeweavers.com

www.winex.com

Wine is not an emulator (in fact the name "Wine" is a recursive acronym that stands for "wine is not an emulator") -- because when running on Linux on a PC it is using the same x86 environment. Rather Wine is a Windows environment for Linux. Therefore, Windows software that will run under Wine will run just as fast under Linux as under Windows.

There are other choices for running Windows software under Linux like VMware.

www.vmware.com

There are fundamental problems with Windows that will never allow it to be as secure or as fast as Unix and Unix derivatives like Linux. In order for Windows to stand up to Unix it needs a ground up rebuild.
