I'm experiencing the same problem

Some people still actually do give a **** about the quality of work they do. I used to work in a place that was a factory warranty station for electronic test equipment, O-scopes, DMM's, you name the the piece of equipment, this shop repaired it. My old boss' theory was don't screw either the customer or the manufacturer, you will get more return business that way, & it worked.

I'm a newbie to this forum, but not to Musicman. My Stingray HH is my third one; I have a '79 Stingray and an '02 Bongo at home. The '79 plays incredibly, the Bongo nearly so, but this HH is giving me fits.

Like Gary, it's buzz city everywhere, no matter what I do. I use DR Hi Beam .40-.100, and I've tried everything I can think of - trussrod adjustments, lowering and raising the pickups to factory specs, raising-lowering the action, nothing works. It literally buzzes everywhere regardless of what I do.

I own five Alembics; each has an adjustable nut to compensate for changes in string gauges. I'm able to dial those in fairly easily despite the fact that I use a light gauge string. I'm beginning to think that perhaps the nut slot is too deep? Right now, I'm in Korea (I'm in the Army), and I purchased my Stingray here in Seoul brand new. It's a great instrument - fit and finish is top notch, and it has great tone (love that coil tap switch). I just can't get it set up to play right.

I have all the set up tools I need here (capo, Peterson Strobo Flip digital tuner, feeler gauges, allen wrenches, etc.), so I don't think it's something I'm doing or not doing. Hell, I even have Dan Erlewine's DVDs here. If anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong or something I can do to fix things, I'm all ears.

Measurements are as follows:

Relief: .016" between 5th-10th fret, using feeler gauges
Action: 3.32nd" at 21st fret on E string (other strings slightly lower)
Strings: DR Hi Beam, .40-.100

Bass is kept in case when not in use. Average temperature about 72 degrees F inside house. Low humidity from what I can tell (it's dry in Korea during the fall/winter).

P.S. Gary, I'm from Cleveland too.
