I don't want to be disrespectful Steve, but what SRV did was glue the area under his fingernails. With the heavy strings he used, it would separate the skin under his fingernails, and he would glue it back together. I know this for a fact. I have built basses for Tommy Shannon, and got the info first hand

I don't doubt that at all. I met SRV a few times, and at one of his last shows with JB, I was back stage, and I saw all kinds of weird scarring on his right forearm. I had heard the stories that I quoted, and his tech told me that is exactly what he did. If you ever notice, SRV always wore long sleeves in in later years.
I personally couldn't imagine doing that. But you know how stories can get manipulated...LOL
But IMHO, after seeing his arms, I beleive it.
