FOr some reason the Silo Special and the Silo look kinda different to me body wise. It is the same shape, but I think the Silo has longer horns or deeper cut or something. I think that's because of the 24 frets.
I tried out a Silo Special in a music store that had a maple fingerboard, and the rosewood definitely felt smoother to me. Plus, the maple had already begun to show dirt from people playing it, and if it was that way now I couldn't imagine what it would look like after ten years or so.
Even though I've only played the guitar a few days, I love the single coils! In particular, the fourth position on the switch (counting from the bridge). I was playing along with Stevie Ray Vaughn's classic "Tin Pan Alley" and I had his bluesy tone nailed pretty spot-on.
The humbucker, well, I guess I'm spoiled by my Les Paul. In another thread someone mentioned that there's nothing like that LP sound. The Silo's 'bucker isn't as powerful, but the versatility, lighter weight, coutoured body, and the amazing neck more than makes up for it.
