So, I was all excited about posting about my coming marathon gig (see:http://www.ernieball.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3490), when I realized that my piezo was sounding a bit funny.

It appears that the D string saddle is kaput, and while the A string saddle isn't dead, it certainly is coughing up a lot of blood...I tried new batteries, and I tried different preamps with the same result. Both humbuckers work fine, the G, E and B strings work fine, but the A is scratchy and the D is pushing up daisies.

I'll still be able to use the Bongo for the time being (unless something else goes...), but I can't send it off for repairs until I get at least something back so I can have a usable bass for blues gigs--my 8 string fretless ain't gonna cut it!

This is the first solidbodied bass I've owned that had piezos--I don't think there is anything more I can try, but I'm open to intelligent suggestions....

Hey, John--that's what I was referencing.

Yeah, the piezos are still messed up--when I push down on the D and A strings, they get louder with some buzzing. I was still able to use the bass for all of a 5 hour gig on Sunday, though, so it could be worse. I just turned the piezo volume down all the way and used the mags exclusively.

When my new fretless 5 string Bongo shows up in the near future, I was going to use the box it was shipped in to send the fretted back to you guys in SLO for a checkup. If the bass didn't sound so astounding with just the two humbuckers, I might be more worried about it. But, since I'm going to hang onto it until the fretless arrives, it's a small annoyance. And, it'll probably be a couple of weeks before I pick up a different bass besides the fretless, anyway, so I won't mind it being gone for a little while.

The bass did sit in a Guitar Center for about 6 months, so I guess I should be happy the headstock didn't fall off, too... :D

I assumed you EB folks were swamped getting ready for NAMM, so I was going to wait until next week to contact you.

Namm doesn't affect me

Dear, God, Man--

You must not be human!

Seriously, once the fretless arrives with the box, I'll contact you for a RA number, or whatever you need.

Thanks!
Jason
