is that near you? WOW

Just 30 or so miles west of here,, out in the desert. Yup, for real and taken with a digital camera, normal lens. Dogs were at the base of the tree, and the cat had given up. Actually this was just inside Utah. Spud, it would take any fire dept some time to make it out there. Don't think they'd really want to go. Don't know if fire trucks are 4 wheel drive. LOL Just last week, my wife said "quick, come here" and there were 3 or 4 deer in the neighbors acreage. Also have seen many fox and coyotes. It's still wild here. This past winter, I stopped to relieve myself and had a funny feeling I was being watched (near Parachute) and looked up to see a full grown bobcat staring at me. Soon as our eyes met he slinked off... that was pretty cool. It's rare to see one up close. Nuther pic of the mountain lion.

Holy cr@p, I would be freaked out

Hey guy, there's plenty of cats down where you are too. I used to drive alot from Holbrook Az down to Phoenix and Tucson, I liked to take the two lane roads. Just south of Globe Miami AZ I have seen many mountain lion. They'd jump down off the road cuts and cross the road. Big cats. Lot's of them here in the 4 corner states. Seen them over near Grants NM too.

Fortunately, there are none where I live. We do have a bunch of snakes though. We get a lot of rattlesnakes and coyotes. They are usually not a problem. I get to see a good amount of wildlife when I go quading but nothing that would freak me out.

Oh yeah, we have a big amount (BIG) of jackrabbits and rabbits too.

i was driving up a canyon on the west side of denver a couple of years ago and saw a mountain lion dragging a deer off of the side of the road.

last winter my sister in law lost her dog to a mountain lion in the denver foothills. her dog was an 80lb lab. there were drag marks in the snow for 1/3 of a mile from her house. big cats.

then theres the bears.

edit to add to story: my brother in law was at home one night watching tv and the dog was lying on the floor in the family room...big windows in this house (floor to ceiling)...he hears a low growling for a couple of minutes...turns around to see a mountain lion, sitting on his deck literally three feet away from where he was sitting, staring thru the window and growling at the dog. Happened again the next night...called animal control...they said "don't let the dog out". They didn't for a week (just quick leashed walks outside to let the dog do his thing). Finally after a week they let the dog out for 15 minutes before they were going to bed. Gone. That cat was patient and hungry.
