Hi guys.

I was doing an online bass lesson recently, and I tapped the battery compartment of my 'ray with my trousers, and it made a really bad noise. A very loud distorted noise, much like when you put the lead into the jack, but miss first.

I figured my battery may need changing, so I put another battery in ( a brand new one, and I was left with a really weak tone, and everything was really quiet. So I put the old battery in, and it was the same again. I just can't get anything out of it. It's as if the actives don't exist.

Anyone have an idea what this is? I haven't even gigged with this bass yet...

Yea, I understand that, bud. I was just looking to see if anyone has had the same problem to see if it's a simple fix before I take it further...

OK Heavy handed self appointed moderators are way out of line....gentile reminders about customer service are welcome but that post is embarrassing to me and I apologize.

Please call customer service and we will make you happy

Yea, i'd happily do that.

But I have a feeling customer service is in the States? I'm in England. Instead of spending a massive amount of money ringing the USA, I thought i'd just see if anyone had a quick fix, incase it was a common problem.

Ironically, i've got to the bottom of the problem via another forum. Should be able to get it fixed locally in no time at all, so all is cool.

Sorry mate I really need to apologise for having sounded heavy handed in my reply, I never meant to, and by no means I was trying to abuse authority or impersonate moderation, its not my place. I agree with what Mr. BP said and since you live in the UK you can safely rely on the knowledge and unrivaled help of Pete, aka blind lemon in this forum, who is the main man at Strings and Things who are the official UK distributors for EB instruments. So you could either pm him via the forum "Blind Lemon" or contact them here:

Strings & Things Ltd. Tel: 01273 440442

Strings and Things Ltd. - Quality Instruments

Again sorry for my original reply, I was out of order. Hope you can sort out your battery issue.

btw I have seen your videos is that an ebony fingerboard on your SR4?
