Lot of talk about weight lately so I broke out the postal scale and some old notes.

Some of these basses I still own, some not, but here's what I have:

Heinz trans green SR5: 9.1

Envy Green Bongo 5 HH: 9.7

Sapphire Black Bongo 5 HH: 10.3

Carbon Blue Bongo 4 HS: 9.7

Flaming Biff Bongo 4 HH: 9.6

Egyptian Smoke SR4: 10.4

Candy Red Bongo 5 H: 9.0

Graphite Pearl "BP" Bongo 4 H: 8.8

Blue Sparkle Sterling: 9.2

Blue Pearl Bongo 5 HS: 9.9

First number is pounds, second is ounces for you furners.

So what are your numbers?

Both 30th Stingrays I got in today were 9.6 lbs. So far that makes these 30th that I've gotten in averaging out at only 9.95 lbs which is a pound lighter than I anticipated.

i have a sterling that weighs a ton. i remember she went back home to get something fixed and came back with a new body and Jon even commented that its heavier ... remember the blue dawn i sent in Jon?

anywho ... i dont much care about the weight of my basses. i play punk - there's no way in hell ill even play a 3 hour set or anything. that would be like 50 songs.

I noticed as well. Seeing something like 9.15 would confuse me ;) You wouldnt think its almost 10 pounds at first sight.

No, you're not.

Decimals are decimals. If you use a decimal, it is assumed that you mean 1/10 of the value of the previous unit, whatever unit that may be.

9.9 tons is 9 tons plus 9/10ths of a ton, not 9 tons plus 9 whatevers.... 9 tons, 9 grams; 9 tons, 9 ounces; 9 tons, 9 pounds; 9 tons, 9 Cartmans....

When my digital bathroom scale reads 175.5 pounds, it does not mean 175 pounds, 8 ounces.
Same with my digital postal scale.

If you're gonna report ounces, say ounces.

If you're gonna use cubits, bits, tads, RCH's (my favorite unit of measure), helluvalots, s-loads, f-loads, more-than-you-can-possibly-imagines or any other such illogical measurement system that deviates from standard practice it's only fair to tell us so up front.

OK, here the skinny on mine.

Graphite Pearl Bongo 5 H - 9lbs. 2oz.

Desert Gold Bongo 5 HH - 9lbs. 12oz.

Buttercream Bongo 5 HH - 10lbs. 10oz.

Being that there's a one and a half pound difference, I really feel it when I switch from the GP to the BC.

I did some estimation weighing with my crappy scale.

Sterling: ~9
SR5: ~10.5 or so

My decimals are decimals.

Give or take. Basically no surprises here. Nothing extremely light or backbreaking.
