Yeah, Nick is now playing with Kim Wilde as well as with other national acts. I recently saw clips from a huge concert which was simulcast thru-out Europe and there he was playing behind her.

VH1 also did a Bands Reunited Special with Kajagoogoo a few yrs ago. As before, out came the old SR4.

I believe Nick's also a staff writer for Bass Guitar Magazine (UK) and involved with a music school in England.

I have some recent stuff of his group's (Kajagoogoo) and the lines are still real creative...

Travis, yes, I composed/recorded a bass solo there in Columbus, GA which later got me featured/chosen by Mike Varney (discovered Billy Sheehan, Yngwie, etc., etc.) in guitar Player Mag. in Aug. 1985! This was "Domino One" leading to many endorsements, features, interviews, as well as the juice to do a ton of instructional materials, "Suprchiops 4 Bass". This all parlayed into the start of Bass Central and the rest is history, I guess.

Stay in touch, Travis.

I Think I Know Beaver Felton,

Hello to Dave Jeffries, the only guy in the world who owns more MM basses than Bass Central! You simply wouldn't believe his collection of these as well as Fenders......

Practice while driving!

Beaver thought me how to practice while driving around in a 1982 caddy!
Also, he's sold me 3!

'Good memory! Yes, I showed that trick in a few videos. I used those techniques for yrs.! 'Had to include a disclaimer on the videos so nobody sued me if they had an accident while practicing/driving!

I wore out my steering wheel and dashboard. 'Showed the car to students years later who had seen it in the videos. They were quite entertained!....

Hi Beaver, great talking to you today, I can't wait to get my Sterling. Thanks for your help (and Dan from EBMM too, for finding it even though it didn't exist yet). On another note, I'm really digging track 6 of the bass solos. You kick ass, glad you're here. .

Thanx for the Shirt and there is such thing as a free lunch!

Welcome Beaver!!

Nice story - 4 of us from the BassPlayerMagazineForum had a meet-up a few years ago at Bass Central. We had the run of the place - I clearly remember making a Dingwall owner cry after playing a 'Ray thru a Bill Dickens set-up after he had played the Dinger thru same (yes I am evil) - anything we wanted to try was at our disposal, short of walking out the door with a piece of gear. Beaver had a goodie bag for each of us with CD's and shirts and various and sundry SWAG. He also managed to talk KC and Dave L. into putting on a mini-clinic... not so 'mini' really - it lasted for 30 minutes or so. Impressions? Dave + Bongo = the realization that (in hands more capable than mine) the Bongo is a formidable choice. Beaver was available the whole time for questions and tips and stories. A very good day with a very good guy and Staff.

...time for another road trip up North, methinks...

Jim, yes, I remember you and the guys, thanx again for visiting. By coincidence, I'm wearing the shirt that you sent me with the picture of all 4 of you on the front and back!

Lunch on me when you come back! as a matter of fact, I have a standing offer to all out-of-towners: Lunch on me if you visit the store....

Great Rhythm Section!

My DD BONGO came from Bass Central. But I've known Beaver for about....24 yrs.
He came out to see my band in 1985 and gave me some of the highest compliments from a pro bassist/soloist I have ever received. I'm gonna try to get down to Orlando in june. Hats off to BF

Richard Meeder

Yep, Richard Meeder came up with incredible bass parts in his group, "The Running". Tremendously talented band, they nearly won "Star Search" and really should've had a record deal in the 80's.

He and the drummer were one of the most creative and and tightest rhythm sections I've ever heard in my entire life. Every single beat/note was accounted for. Unreal stuff. The songs revolved around them many times. Check them out if possible......

Whewwwww!

WHEWWW! Now that I've responded to some of your posts, I'm going home, practicing some "Stupid Bass Tricks" on my favorite Sterling, and then relaxing........

Tomorrow I get to hear old friend Dave LaRue teaching students 15 feet from my desk. We've been friends since '89 and I've never heard him play the same thing twice! Huge vocabulary. 'A "Top Tier" bassist/musician, no wonder he's played with almost every Guitar God on the planet (X).....

Tim, hey, thanx for the business and for the compliments on track 6 (whichever piece that was). Man, those solo pieces were recorded in 85-86 and I can't even remember or play most of them anymore....Time to wood shed.

One time, a long time ago, I was working some sort of deal with Gard. I think it was legal, but probably immoral, but anyway, I had talked to Gard about eight times that week and called one day to talk to him again. (I have no idea now what it was about.)

"Bass Central."

I say hey, this is Jack, is Gard around?

"No, he's off today, can I help you with something?"

I mumble, I don't want to have to dredge up all these details again, how the hell does Gard get a day off? I say, "Ah, nah, I'll talk to Gard tomorrow."

The voice says, "Well, this is Beaver Felton, I sort of own the place, I know Gard is really a great guy, but maybe I could actually help you."

All I could do was laugh, Beaver.

That was years ago. Anyhoo, inappropriate stories? Have at 'em!

How many of you are familiar with Nick Beggs from the British group, Kajagoogoo, who had several big hits in the 80's? He played a SR, possibly a pre-EB model.
Great bass parts.

Beaver Felton

He went through a lot of basses after they got a deal. Most commonly seen playing a Vigier. I saw him live back in the 90s with Ellis, Beggs and Howard. He was using a Warwick Thumb 5. Very good bass player.

Hwey, Beaver Felton, you annoy my band members;)
Well, technically it's a thing I learnt from a superchops video, and it's not even taught:)
Sometimes Beaver does a little drum roll on the strings in between two parts of the video, and well that's the only thing from that video I have mastered properly:p
And it is not well liked by my fellow band members, not when performed on a Bongo anyway:p

Real cool to have you here, o maker of impossible videos:D

Maybe this will finally kick me into fulfilling a long-standing promise to myself to drop in at Bass Central--I'm another Floridian who has to travel northeast just about 200 miles to reach your store (wherever Fern Park is in the greater Orlando region). (note to self--make reservations for road trip to the magic kingdom with a side visit to land of basses).
