just to jump to Englands defence - they had to push up to try to get back into the game - and that's when Germany caught them on the sucker punch - twice!!
If the goal had been allowed I don't bleeb that England would have pushed so many men forward. I was surprised by the amount of possession England had -
It was a match full of incident - James the Goalie saved them from conceding 7.
I know Lampard hit the cross bar - didn't the German crossbar get rattled twice or was I dreaming???
I think the German team will be incredible in 4 years time as they are a very young side now - but how many non Germans play in the team? maybe England should follow suit and get a bunch of Brazilians/Spanish/Italians into their team ;)

I believe it's something like 6-8 of them being "non-nationals".

Bottom line is that our overpaid primadonnas just ain't good enough. Can't believe people are blaming Fabio Capello. Germany's movement was great and our defence was appalling (John Terry massively out of position for the first goal and the fourth goal - receiving a throw-in in Germany's penalty area??????).

The nationality rules are annoying as well as FIFA not sanctioning/adopting technology. It would have been different had Lampards goal gone in, but Germany looked dangerous on each attack whereas we just seemed to blunder our way through......not good enough.

I feel really unlucky.
I am half English and half Italian, but I've always lived in Italy so I feel Italian mostly.
4 years ago we won the world cup and we played great, this year we totally sucked.
As soon as Italy lost against Slovakia I was kinda depressed, but then I thought "oh well, I've still got England to support, plus they have an Italian coach".
But then we all know what happened today, don't we? :p

nope, you're wrong...don't want to be too picky on this, but they're all German, the second or third generation of migrants into Germany, everybody holds a German passport. Only exception is Cacau, who states that Germany has "adopted" him....he became a German national only some two or three years ago.

And brother's, don't get crazy about the what-ifs...it was John Terry himself who said that Germany was the better team yesterday, despite of the denied goal. And I think it was in 66 when it happened just the other way round ;)

After all...it's just football.....errrhh......sorry, I mean soccer (for our brothers from across the Atlantic :D )

If you are going to be really picky though you could say the USA's entire squad lol...

So much for the USA going to the finals haha. Lets see what Slovaks can do against the Dutch now...even if Slovaks lose, they achieved more than I expected of my own country hahaha.

I don't think there is any argument as to who the vastly better side was yesterday - it's ironic that before every major tournament the media and pundits will say 'Germany don't look so good', but they always, always get to the semi-final / final.

The 'goal' would have given England extra momentum - and we may have got something....but that would have papered over the cracks.......

I look back and I think the reliance on Beckham to deliver a killer free kick or cross that we often scored from actually masked the problems as well.

The match-stats were similar and England had a lot more physical posession, but Germany didn't needed posession because they were just so incisive and clinical.....awesome team.

And the Netherlands are through to another round :D. The mood is picking up momentum over here, there's really something to be had this time. My vote is on Spain vs Lowlands.

Both matches yeterday were messed up btw, time to say goodbye to Blatter and start a new World Football Federation or something to make the necessary changes.

I think England need to do some serious soul searching, I think they need an English manager, or at the very least a manager who can communicate with his team in English, have you seen Capello interviews?
If you look at Argentina..(I know you probably don't want to..) but in Maradona they have a coach whom the whole team adore and they just WANT to win. They appear to have what England don't, team spirit. I also think that there was a lot of stuff going on behind the scenes that took its toll, the John Terry affair in particular has had a lingering effect on the team IMO, there was clearly a lot of tension in the entire team.
I also think that the England squad were very tired, they play more football each year in England than any other country and its takes its toll.
I'd love to see England do well, even if I'm not English, and I was as heartbroken as anyone yesterday:(

congrats to Germany, on the day they deserved the win.

Both deserve a world cup any way Netherlands for being twice in final and being ripped off and Spain cause they just have the perfect team for that :)

Dude - I'd agree to a degree. Capellos record at club level is awesome. I remember watching his ACMilan side just destroy Barcelona in the Champions League Final, but maybe International football is different. However, the last 5 England managers have failed....it can't always be the manager....

We don't play more football than other countries - that's a myth. Seven of the Germany team played more games than the England counterparts last season and the 'foreign' imports to the Premier League don't seem to be struggling do they.....I just don't buy that at all, but I understand why Capello said it as he's caught between rock and a hard place.....

Of course, its only soccer... not like its a big deal. BTW did anyone see the Yanks come back on the Dodgers last night! Cano's 2 run shot in the 10th and the Timeless Rivera tossing 2 innings! Now that was exciting!
