Back from tonight's gig with, you guessed it, the Blue Pearl Sterling ;)

Trouble brewing: the acoustic guitar player is scheming with the keyboardist now. They tried to get the Sterling out the back door in a rolling keyboard gigbag...

Everyone wants a piece of this bass

Wish you guys could hold this neck; it feels even better than it looks :D

David, I'm glad you like this bass. And even happier that your sales efforts were unsuccessful. It is truly an excellent instrument. In spite of that I don't regret selling it -- it's a bass I appreciated a lot but still it didn't quite do it for me. Not that there wasn't a twinge when I played it one last time before packing it up. I guess I've been out with guys like that, too. The neck is gorgeous and like you said, the weight is great. I was hoping you'd keep it and I figured if you did it would grow on you.

What do you think about Michael Dolan's neck finish? I thought that was a good move on my part -- it makes the birdseye look even better. Also, when I got it on eBay, it was filthy. It was bad enough that I was afraid to do anything myself. And apparently the guy only played on the first seven frets.

Selling the Sterling also made it possible for me to buy Ben's Stealth Bongo HS which is da kine. It was an unplanned thing, since I ordered a DD Single H Bongo. Ray is always talking about the single H and I figure if he says it's that good it's gotta be. When Ben put the Stealth up for sale I had the cash, and I didn't have an MM anymore, so what the heck? I'm really loving this bass. I'm taking it to band practice for the first time tomorrow and we'll see what everyone thinks. Not that it really matters....

Mark, my cohabitor/lover didn't like the Bongos I showed him on line before, but I think the Stealth is growing on him. I think it's nasty looking in a good way. The stealth finish is tres chic. Plus I've got him thinking there's some sort of financial advantage to buying basses -- I'm not sure how I managed that but it seems to be working very well. ;)

David, I'm so happy you found bliss with the Sterling. I love it when a sale goes like this!

P.S. And you got me to sign up in this excellent forum! I've been lurking for a while but didn't have much to say. I guess I made up for that tonight.

Hey Lisa-
The neck finish is the best I've handled, and I've owned (to date) 61 different basses (including 5 EB/MM products). If I weren't on the east coast I'd have Dolan do the necks on all my basses. Personally, I am very excited that you had him do the neck! ;)

...and an unsolicited plug for Lisa- she's a newbie here and so am I, but she's a regular (as I'm sure many/most of you know) at various other boards, and she is a pure joy to deal with!
