OK,

It's almost official. I just got back from my first of 2 outdoor gigs, and my new Sterling 5 with my also LIGHTweight rig just blew me away!

I had her strung up with flats and it was amazing.

I mean the punch and bottom was both clear and boomy at the same time. I have a wireless system that allowed me to roam about 50-75 yards out in front of the band, and I was hearing my bass loud and clear. We were playing under a small tent with nothing solid behind us.

It had a definite old school tone, but was still very clear. I'll have to test it out next week at an indoor gig to see how this baby cuts the mix.

I agree, the Sterling 5 is the bomb.

My bass teacher showed up today for my lesson, I had mine out and he was like "you never put that thing down, do you?" He's right, I haven't put it down since I got it.

By the way, my teacher is teaching me to slap and pop, and I'm not having any trouble even considering the string spacing and the fact that mine is an HH. Any of you other guys having trouble just have sloppy technique. :D :p

That PBB is just crazy on yours. Amazing!

Same here! I haven't played anything but my new Sterling 5's since I got them. BTW, what kind of wireless system do you have and how do you like it? I've been meaning to get one of those, but haven't decided which one to get. I don't want to have RF issues or loss of bottom end- all those reasons why I've been told NOT to get one.

Hey John,

Your Sterling 5 looks amazing. Is it any lighter, than your SR5's. Does it 'feel' a different animal to play than the SR5? Thanks

Actually it is lighter. about 9.5 pounds. My SR5's weigh almost 2 pounds more. Now these are the HH models, so I'm not sure if that makes much difference. Either way, I love it!

I was all set on getting a NYC Sadowsky, but after seeing the Sterling 5's...I'm seriously going to have to do a trip to Bass Northwest so I can try them head to head.

Man that looks KILLER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:D
