Bill give a shout to customer service, they would know if one is floating around out there. Lined are more common than unlined generally speaking, so you may be in luck. Merry Christmas. I'll give you a shout after the holidays if you want to check out the rig and Dargie 2.

If the 4 were lined, I might have to get myself a Christmas gift!!

Question about lined vs. unlined: I've been struggling with this topic since falling in love with fretless. I love the look of unlined; however, lined seems more practical. I'm a beginner with a fretted bass, and most of the time I play seated while staring at the fretboad. BUT, when I stand I can't see the face of the fretboard at all. I can see the ends of the frets, but I don't think I would be able to see much of a lined fretless. Any advice on choosing lined versus unlined? Is it just personal preference? Thanks!

It is personal preference. Tony Levin plays a lined fretless, so there indeed is nothing wrong with it. I use the side dots and think the lines are distracting personally.

I don't play my unlined fretless very often, but when I do, the main problem I have is the lack of a "position one" dot on the side. All the other normal ones are there, but I find it hard to guesstimate the first "fret" (other than using my ears, of course). I had a one dot added to mine by a local luthier.

I love the look of an unlined fretless too.

Another point in favor of unlined... If you are just starting out you will need to get used to either... Please also note that lines on a fretless can be misleading if you are out of tune... They don't actually do anything.

If you do go unlined just stick with it and give yourself some frustration time. Same for a lined. Either way they sound the same! :)
