But is it really worth the price tag? Is there a noticable difference (other than the obvious color and woods) in its tone? I am getting one, and I could either get a JP7 now, or get a BFR7 once I sell off some stuff. Is it worth the extra work?

And FOGGY! Could I have some BFR JP7 pictures? Just one of each or so to compare? Thanks in advance, everyone.

Oh it definitly makes a difference in tone man. I dont have a BFR, but I have a 20th Silhouette which basically started it all. And I've heard JP playing both guitars live. It also depends on what you preffer tone wise. I think that the BFRs sound much more ALIVE and they definitly cut through quite a bit. I cant stop playing my 20th Silo which I have moded recently with higher output PUPs. That thing is killer, and when I have the money I will most definitly buy a BFR JP and a BFR Luke.
Of course this is not bashing the modles that came before the BFRs. I just think it sets a completely different standard for making guitars that sound amazing but different. I love the regular models as well. Like I said, if I had the money I would have 1 or 2 of EVERYTHING.

Long answer: I am very close to receiving my BFR so I will be able to answer soon about the difference in tone but from what i've seen/heard/read I think the BFR is definitely worth the extra dough. Looks alone are worth the extra plus the fact that they've changed all the woods and upgraded the case. My standard JP does not have the inlays or piezo so that is all going to be new to me on my BFR. I think it is basically an upgraded version of the standard JP and the standard JP is perfection in itself! That means the BFR is just going to be my DREAM GUITAR...

Short answer: I vote BFR for your purchase!

The BFR is worth it. I love all my JP's and my Black Sparkle remains my emotional favorite, but the BFR comes in a very very close second. The thing I really like about it is that of my D-sonic equipped JP's, the BFR has the warmest tone. A truly great guitar.

The BFR is definitely worth the money. Like Adam (MusicmanJP6) said, the looks alone are worth it. As far as playability goes, I think the BFR's smoke the regular JP's hands down. When I bought mine, I could tell immediately that it had a thicker, more articulate tone than my Mystic Dream JP had. Also, it sounded a bit brighter as well. The neck felt a bit different than the MD JP also. I say go for it, you won't regret it.

Okay, I'm thinking either Tobacco, Emerald, or Bahama Blue. Leaning towards bahama.

Do you think it sounds just generally more focused than the JP7? Like, less muddy and flubby sounding?

I like the searing highs that the wood combo produces. Tonally it's more complex than a mono wood body. EBMM sure did their homework on these. Every of the 20ths I have exhibit that characteristic. The BFR6 I've tried also has that.

If I were you, and don't have the "hoarding mentality" that I have, I'd get a BFR7 for sure... in PBB. Heh...

Sure, they're cosmetically different, so if that appeals to you it's your money.

As far as tone goes, there's a difference but it's not in-your-face. There's more in the mids, it's a little thicker. But depending on what you play through it may not be a huge difference tonally. Don't expect them to sound like something else.

Very cool guitars, but they are a lot of money, so I'd be practical about the purchase.

Too rich for my blood I fear.......will you proud owners be taking them out on gigs, or will they just stay in the vault at home to be drooled over?
Good luck whatever you decide Pittman

I pretty much agree with Beej!

In fact, I'd say my BFR JP6 is in no way better sounding than the standard one - it's just different, but in the same class.

Leaving the gorgeous looks of the BFR tops aside, the only really UNBELIEVEABLE bang for the buck in this category is the 20th silo. For me, it completely owns the BFR JP6 and costs a lot less... provided You can find one
