Of course I don't mean that in a smarmy way like Bill Shakespear, but with true conviction: my Albert Lee is such a well thought out, professional axe.

From its silent circuit to its compensated nut this is the most "professional" guitar I've owned. (I've had them all - strats, teles, pauls, prs, g&l, firebirds, jazzmasters [also well designed] others...) I like all the aforementioned guitars, please don't get me wrong, but the Music Man/Ernie Ball AL is the most stage-friendly of them all. The balance is great, it hangs perfecly, the controls are simple and well placed.

Yeah, I love my Albert Lee. I've had it for two years now and I like it more all the time. My next axe is definitely going to be another EB/MM guitar, likely a silhouette.

I do have one nit to pick: I'm not thrilled with the angle the G string makes over the nut. I haven't had a problem, really, but I keep looking at it, thinking I should put a string retainer just for the G string, increasing the angle to that of the D string. Has anyone tried this?

Once again, though; what a piece of work is Music Man!

I see nothing wrong with G Strings. Only if it's on someone named Al :D

Perhaps the string was threaded from the wrong side of the whole in

the tuner?

Hey Moot - I know exactly what you mean about the AL.

I wish I had one of these 30 years ago. I first hit on the Al back in 2005 and haven't looked back since.

It's a great idea of course to get another guitar, but why not try something different to the Silo?(The silo being a single coil guitar too or maybe a Humbucker/single coil/single coil?)
Why not an Axis SS - very similar neck to the Al - but you will have a guitar with humbuckers.
Try out the Luke or the JP too.

I got nothing against the silo - if I had the money I'd have one in my collection.

Just thinking out loud
Edit - I see what you mean about the G - I just checked each of my Als - but honestly, you don't need a string tree - they only cause problems anyway

I played a Silo, Blew away any St@&#@$!&* I ever picked up.

The Silo is a very nice choice. I like the look and the SSS setup.

Without a string tree you can bend the G string to a G sharp ala-Pedal Steel guitar

+1 for an HSH Silo. It is the perfect blend between an LP and a strat with quality and playability that surpasses both.

I'm sure if the G-string were an issue, EBMM would have done something about it. I can't imagine Albert Lee, Steve Lukather, Steve Morse, etc. putting up with something like that if it were problematic.
