Do yourself a favour Travis .. borrow it and keep it in the woodshed for a week. I promise you will NOT be disappointed. That's the same head as mine ..(except it looks a lot newer than my combo) .. and mine doesn't have the daygo light ... that was a racking unit extra ...

Freddy-G .. I guess you've probably got the GP7 manual but if you don't, I think I can remember the location on the web .. they're buried somewhere on the old G**s*n site with no links to them.

As a matter of fact, I have the .pdf file right here on this compooter. Thanks. The guy that I bought this amp from took really good care of it. It's about 12 years old and still looks new except for the slightly tarnished metal corners. I still get a kick out of the black light. ;)

Sure. We'll figure it out later. And if there's time, we can run over to the Atlanta Bass Gallery. Ever see a Glockenklang? Or a Ritter bass?

Gary, I am certainly down with a trip to the Atlanta Bass Gallery. Been meaning to make a trip there for a long time.

Just let me know works for you. Most Saturdays are good for me.

Yep - I remember seeing Jimmy Earl bassplaying for Stanley Clarke back in the late 1980's with a nice little Trace rig behind him glowing green from every logo and panel :) .. star of the show for me ... Wanted one ever since ...

Acherly ... I think he used to endorse them im those days. I wonder if they'll win him back with the new range ...

I've got another question:

How does the sound of Trace Elliot compare with Ashdown? Are they totally different or somewhat alike? I've never tried Trace Elliot, and I wouldn't even know where to get one. But if it's worth looking into I'll find one somewhere.

Sorry - I dun no. I never played an Ashdown but for me it blows away my old silverfront Fender Bassman (into 2x15 + 4x12 matching Fender cab) and my Peavy Cernturion into a 4x12 Dan Armstrong foboth r sound quality and punch, toho I occasionally miss the valves when I'm going for the fretless Mwahh.

I'm a fan of Mesa myself. I have 3 of them now, a Trem-O-Verb going into 2 2x12 Recto cabs, a 20/20 power amp tied into a Rocktron Prophecy & 2 Rocktron 1x12 cabs for Guitar. My bass amp is a Walk-about Scout 12, for the simple fact that when I bought the guitar equipment, I owned a van & transporting all of it was easy. Now, I just own a regular sedan & the MM Stingray case won't even fit in the trunk, have to put it in the back seat.

If transportation of equipment were not an issue, I'd have a Mesa Big Block 750 & a Powerhouse 4x10 sitting on top of a Powerhouse 1x15.

I like the Aggie AG500, and then you can check out SWR SM amps, Epifani, EBS TD650, stuff I also like a lot.

Or you can dig Trace Elliot, and check out Asgdown as well.

or you like Ampeg SVT, so check out EBS fafner, Aggie 750 and Mesa 400 maybe.

Or maybe you cre clever and try a big MarkBass amp from Italy? Them good, and if I don't misremember also builders of EB Audiophile stuff some time ago?

As many people have said, lots of good amps to choose from, and frankly they all complement the excellent basses from Ernie Ball.

Glockenklang is a very clear sounding amp, to the point that I presonally have a hard time getting into the groove playing one (w/ box). Standing around listening to sonic excellence is only so much fun...

It's worth looking into for sure! The best Ashdowns (most expensive) remind me of Trace Elliots a lot!
