Hey Now,

Since I will be joining the ranks of AL owners in the near future I was wondering what amps you folks are using with your AL?

As of right now I use the 5150 1/2 stack with my '93 EBMM Van Halen and for the music we play, the demand for a clean sound is quite rare.

I was toying with the idea of getting a nice 2x12 combo for my new AL and would appreciate any suggestions:)

I've been doing my Albert Lee homework and learning almost all of T-Bird to Vegas but I think any attempt at playing that cut on my 5150 settings would be hilarious. Don't get me wrong, I will definitely try it out but....

Thanks,

Pug,

IMHO, the Albert Lee begs for an old-school F@nder Reverb type combo amp. (Twin/Vibroluxe types)

It's a shame you don't have much call for 'clean' sound, because the above mentioned amps plus the AL guitar would be unfriggin'believable. :)

Guytron GT100FV + matching 2x12 cab. Clean sounds are *unbelievable*. Albert sounds out of this world.

Traynor YCV40WR - 1x12 combo. More in line with the fender style, 2 channel foot switchable 6L6 based with a Celestian vintage 30 and reverb. It's not going to bring you to 5150 territory but its not meant to. Nice clean, good blues, not metal. Lot of positive feed back on Harmony Central

Good value for the money relative to the competition in its range (i.e. peavey classics, fender hot rod / blues deluxe etc). Made in Canada.

I don't play out so it is more than adequate for what I'm doing and is well matched for the AL.

Good Luck

Albert goes through a Musicman amp or sometimes a Rivera.

I have to emulate a Fender amp by using my Pod xt. It'll do !!

In the future when I get my AER acoustic amp, the piezo will go into the AER and the Mags (SSS) through the Marshall via the POD.

Once my fellow bandmates here how the Albert sounds, I'm sure a larger collection of clean songs will enter our setlist. :)

So hear is my first batch of amps to research, this is going to be really fun !!:D

For the record, I'm using a vintage Fender Deluxe Reverb with my Albert Lee and it's a great combination....

Great suggestions :D :D

I want to get a general idea and narrow down the search a little before I go and check some out. Tomorrow I will be doing some preliminary testing in the local stores but no decision will be made until I have my AL in hand. That will be the true test of which amp sings with my new beauty. I just hate having to go into the mega stores to check out amps because the selection is kind of limited and the sales folk seem to guide you towards the flavor of the month instead of really listening to what your looking for.

I am interested in also checking out some of VOX combos as well

I'd see if you can try the amps out in the private room. Better than competing with other wankers and piped in music at the big stores.

I hear that, the last time I was at one of the mege-stores, some snapperhead was trying to rock out while playing the most hideous BC Rich guitar I have ever seen. It was ridiculously huge and looked like a weapon.

Maybe I will go the "mom & pop" route and check some combos in a more private environment...

I use a TopHat 212 Club Royale with my AL. It doesn't have verb on it so I use a Line6 Verbzilla. Lately I've beeen thinking about trying it out with a Fuchs. We'll see. Good luck.

Ha! I use a 1x12 Club Royale for gigs.

I use that and an Allen Old Flame for recording.

My AL has 3 MM90's, but it sounds killer through my Bad Cat Hot Cat 30R. I also go t a chance to play one of the 3 single models this weekend through a 60's Ampeg Reverborocket and it sounded great.
