Everything is in the title what type of amps pairs well with HT pickups ? I'm currently using a Quilter aviator cub US, and I play metal/ heavy rock so since it's a very clean amp, I use pedals, but I recently bought a Stingray HT, and from what I understand the 12db boost is meant to overdrive amps right ? So what are you using with your HT equipped guitars ? Tube amp ? solid state ? Do you use it with fuzz or distortions pedals ? I'm currently saving for a Matamp Green series 3000, do you think it would be the right amp for the Stingray HT ?

It will overdrive anything (almost). A very clean signal path may stay clean but get 12 dB louder. Once there is some breakup/overdrive/distortion happening, no matter if it's a pedal or an amp, the result will be more drive and some volume boost. How much volume boost you get will depend on the amount of distortion you are driving. Clean signal chain may give you the full the 12 dB boost with little additional distortion. Into a high distortion pedal or amp you will get almost no volume boost but more distortion, more sustain.

Amps are subjective, I use a Hughes and Kettner Tubemeister Deluxe 20 for everything when I do use an amp

I have been playing it through a 20W marshall sc20h (JCM800) and a cab with a pair of greenbacks.
My only other amp is a DSL but i like it better wjth the JCM800. With the bright midrange sound of the Stingray HT I was getting convincing Schenker-era UFO tones yesterday. It is my #1 guitar now.
I have the preamp on the amp turned up so it is mostly amp distortion. For boost/overdrive i am using a jHs morning glory which i like better than the button on the guitar.
I have to say I don’t like the boost button much. I have used in a jam context when i couldnt hear over someone playing loud, but for the most part the boost gets a little fuzzier than i like. I know you can turn it up more than the 12db but i would like to turn it down. Haven’t looked to see if that is possible. It is useful to have but if it wasnt there I wouldn’t miss it.
I actually sold my regular stingray because i like the ht humbucker better. Also, it was the older 2016 stingray with the poly neck finish.
I used to love that guitar but once i played the neck on the new HT stingray it ruined the old one for me. After a month of trying to get over it i was just like I can’t play this thing anymore.
My only complaint is I have the bridge bottomed out and the action is still a smidge high, but ordered a 0.25° shim and will put that in next week.
