Latest editions to the Set-List? We've got a few new tunes we're breaking-in next weekend:

As Good As I Once Was
Life is a Highway
Under the Boardwalk

...and noodling "Working for the Weekend" and "Marry for Money"

All presented via Bongo, of course. :)

Anyone else - new tunes in play?

I'm working on sucking less as a bass player in general, I've got great basses, it's all about me and, well....

I'm between gigs right now, even as a keyboard player so I don't have a learn list a the moment. I'm just playing the BFR Sterling every chance I get.

I've got a couple of to-do lists on the go. For the dance/party band this week I've got -

Spinning Around - Kylie
Dancing On The Ceiling - Lionel ritchie
I'm So Excited - Pointer Sisters
Smooth - Santana
Faith - George Michael

I've also got a cool set of blues/rock stuff to learn for a fill-in gig in a couple of weeks time, that includes Foo Fighters, Darkness, Green Day, Led Zep, Wolfmother, SRV, Pearl Jam, Stevie Wright and The Doors.

Well, after a long period where I've just been messing about on my own with my bass and Garageband I've just this week got together with a drummer and a young singer/guitarist to form a new band. We're going to be doing our own stuff as all three of us have songs to contribute and we want to see what else comes naturally out of the collaboration.

Don't even have a name or anything and we're just going to let the overall style evolve from who we are and what we like as a band. Bit of an experiment really, but I love the creative side of this.

We're all really looking forward to playing live again and I have a strong hunch we'll be doing some studio recording. The drummer is a composer too (he's a good piano/keyboard player) and has a ton of connections in the music industry - he's played some big gigs actually.

Really excited about this :D

The last new tune we did was 'The Real Thang' by Narada Michael Walden - the Bongo sounds so good for it that we're going to do more funky disco tunes. Namely: Le Freak, She's the Greatest Dancer...wait I can't actually remember the others. But they are SICK.

About 50 songs for a Swing band I just joined.

I'm struggling. It is all notated, standard notation, my reading is not that good. Most of the songs are uptempo.

I'm the rehearsal bassist, but have been promised the gig if I can cut the mustard. Maybe this time next year!:(

Church music - Mostly stuff by Hillsong United (the Aussies on here might know about them). Pretty easy for the most part so I am taking advantage of the opportunity to solidify the basics like timing, and locking in better with the drummer, etc.

I also have a little jazz/fusion trio that plays out at coffee houses occassionally doing mostly original stuff. We play other covers but nothing new at this time.

But it's a lot more fun to play than some other stuff out there, yeah? ;) (Especially the new album)

Yeah they are a lot of fun to play and very high energy for sure. They don't require a lot of concentration or technical know how so you can use it as an opportunity to further work on the fundamentals. Don't get me wrong though, I love their music a lot!

I think the Hillsong bass player (or one of them anyway) uses a Stingray; at least it sounds like it on some of the recordings.
