So now I'm looking/reading about all this new stuff. Should my new Sterling be HH or HS? I can deal with this question.

But what if I have to actually order a bass? they're bound to ask: "What color?"

I've gone to the EB site and played with the "build an instrument" thingy, but it seems that most of the combinations are not available. Is there some way to see all or at least more of the possible combinations? Remember those things they used to make out of paper? Catalogs I think they were called. Does such a thing exist?

probably not ...

ive been going thru the same thing for the last few days and my best bet has been searching on google.com or images.google.com for:
"<insert color here>" Stingray
then sometimes
"<insert color here>" Sterling

if the color is multi-word (ex: medallion gold) then make sure its in quotes

this strategy has worked out ok for me

You can also search through the forums. Because of our stubborn refusal to believe any bass exists without pictures, there have been lots of posts with pics in them. :p One hot thread to check out is the Pictures Thread, which is stapled up to the top of the forum.

And color is such a subjective thing. I think tkarter's graphite pearl SR5 is just about the sexiest thing this side of Angelina Jolie, but others find it boring.

Kind of makes you wish transparent green was still available, though, you know?

I did look through the posted pictures here, but a lot of them have been deleted. I think it was on this forum that I saw some fantastic pictures of a Tobacco Burst Sterling, but I can't find them again.

It would be real nifty if someone had a web page up with as many pictures of different color combos as possible. I dare say that if everyone on this forum sent a full frontal picture of their MM basses, there'd be quite a few combinations. Mind you, I'm not volunteering to oversee this task.

Screw it, I'll just get a black one :)

Thanks, that's fairly handy. What's that bottom one? Black Cherry Burst or Burnt Apple?

What's a Tobacco Burst? Like the Classic Sunburst but not as red?

The Blue Dawn always looks cool in pictures on the net, but I didn't really like it in person so much.

For me I think it's Tobacco, Cherry Burst or maybe just Black with a white pickguard.

I'm narrowing it down. Now all I need is some $$

Burnt apple.

I think they're the same thing.

Yep, some of these photos don't really reflect what they look like in person. Like paz said, trans teal always looks a bit bluer than that in real life.

Looks like they're different. Tobacco looks like a two tone brown-amber sunburst, like Andrew said, and Vintage is a three tone black-red-amber sunburst.

They're both cool. :)

Thanks bovine , but I think those that find something boring are referring to me not my bass

I would like one of those transparent green ones too.
