:(It can be too long or not long enough between gigs . As for me , if its too long and ive exhausted my 600 cd song (thereabouts) playing along with collection of songs and ,,,,,, ive gone through all my scales till im sick to death , perfected the neck adjustements and cleaned and even vacuumed out my bass casses WHATS NEXT ? Our band leader has gone to ireland to line up some gigs so its been 4 months of my day job and feel like im losing my chops . ill never lose interest in the bass but get lost from sheer boredom as to what to do between gigs . Does anyone have a method they can share that beats scales , playalongs and bass polishing that improves your playing as well as keep your interest in peak condition ????:confused::confused::confused::eek::eek::eek:

It can be tough to get out of the boredom rut. I tend to learn and play songs from genres (or bands) I am not really into. I detest a cerain band, rhymes with - pickelcrack - and actaully learned their catalog of songs simply to do something else. To break the rut. I also write music so that is always there as well.

Right now I am bandless other than our churches worship team but I love playing on it. I would love to play in a band again but where I live, it is kind of hard because it is such a small town. I also only have the desire to play Christian music so that also adds to the challenge but to answer the OP's question, I simply keep playing or even write music in between gigging.

We do have open nights here in some pubs , but very amateur and mundane . The lessons sound good for the "how its done these days experience" I like koogies idea of learning things i normally wouldnt think of ! Its all there on the internet .

Where i live to is a resort environment where people come to holiday , surf , kick back so it hasnt got that CITY PULSE you could say and that makes it tougher as well.

Too funny Koogs!

I like to get out and support our local music scene. Plenty of great musicians and bands out there. Lately we've been listening to some jug bands. 1, 5, on the upright.
