You need to speak to the seller and either get a full refund or ask that you be compensated. I assume and hope it was insured. The insurance covers the seller although you may have to cooperate with him to help UPS with the claim. I do suggest you keep things good natured with the seller and work together to sort it out.

It never ceases to amaze me what UPS can do to packages. What I have found is that 95% of the time everything is ok even if it is not well packaged. Typically what happens with the remaining 5% is that the box gets dropped from a great height or falls off the conveyer. When that happens no amount of good packaging helps. I guess that is what insurance is for.

Isn't that a nut around the strap lock, can't you just use a wrench and loosen the thing to get it out, or use a pair of long thin needle nose plyers?

I wondered the same thing.

Real bummer. Shipping without case, not cool.

That sucks. Period. I hate to play the devil's advocate, but I'm not sure I would have expected better to be completely honest. Shipping without a case is just asking for trouble. I've known people who ship guitars IN cases and they get crushed, so what do you expect.

I bought a guitar from a guy once, a mini guitar, and he shipped it in a GIG BAG with the fedex label on the GIG bag. I really couldn't believe it. The guitar was only $60, but still. Talk about zero effort.

Here's my advice. IF you kept the box, file a claim with UPS. They are really good about reimbursing.

You should be able to get the straplock out one way or another. Even if you end up carefully pulling the screw out (trying your best to minimize finish damage), you can drill out the hole, glue in a dowel rod and then put a new strap lock button on. If you're careful, it should be undetectable.

People who skimp on packaging should be loosely boxed up and shipped across the continent.

I couldn't agree more.

The knobs look cool

In my past life as a wood worker we always called little blemishes like that "character".

I know this won't help but I have posted this before and at least I think it's funny. Hopefully while your playing your badass guitar it will make you smile someday too.

*Musings of the UPS Package Handling Apes*

I said catch.
How many packages can we put on a truck? ... One More.
This time accuracy be damned. We're going for distance.
Nope, still haven't seen it.
He shoots! He SCORES!
I didn't know you could do that.

Time for the old Samsonite test.

Right about now we are going to have to sacrifice quality for quantity.
What are you talking about? I'll make it fit.
Uh-Oh, I bet that was pretty.

Thanks all for your suggestions and advice. I decided to go with the "Put a piece of tape on it and experiment with nailpolish" (Thank you Spudmurphy!) I will try to remember to make some pictures of the work in progress

I'm still waiting for a reaction from the seller. Will keep you updated.

OT, but you know those moments in time which play back throughout your life in slow motion? I recall sitting in my seat aboard an aircraft, and as I looked down to the ground, seeing a luggage handler launch my Martin D35 twirling, twirling through the air, like the opening scene of 2001 - A space Odyssey, through the port of the loading deck. I was so mad I was ready to rip someone's head off. Fortunately the Martin case absorbed the abuse.

Nice guitar. I hate when people don't know how to ship. I've been a victim of that recently. You should let him know and leave appropriate feedback.

Mark - I must be the only guy on this thread who is glad about this - I had my eye on that guitar and came very close to bidding myself. Only the fact that I have too many guitars stopped me: I could have been feeling your pain!

Still a great guitar though and a v. big discount on new prices over here.

Cheers,
Steve

Before leaving a negative, see how he responds. I rarely leave negatives, and I would never leave a negative if UPS or the USPS was to blame.
