You need to speak to the seller and either get a full refund or ask that you be compensated. I assume and hope it was insured. The insurance covers the seller although you may have to cooperate with him to help UPS with the claim. I do suggest you keep things good natured with the seller and work together to sort it out.
It never ceases to amaze me what UPS can do to packages. What I have found is that 95% of the time everything is ok even if it is not well packaged. Typically what happens with the remaining 5% is that the box gets dropped from a great height or falls off the conveyer. When that happens no amount of good packaging helps. I guess that is what insurance is for.
