What dose anyone think about this I'm thinking of adding a p-bass pickup to my sterling right in the middle between the mm pick up and the neck I'v looked into finding out how much it would be to get it routed but no music stores around here can tell me any place around here that would rout it I don't really know where to look or how much it would cost but what dose anyone think about adding a pick up to a sterling has anyone ever done this or anything simmilar dose anyone think it would be a good idea or should I just go for a p-bass and leave my sterling the way it is

My answer would be this: No.
That bass does what it does and it does it purdy good.
I guess if I wanted a double pickup Musicman bass, here's what I would do:

The other side to this is that I have always subscribed to the Todd Rundgren approach. I remember Todd saying, "If the only way I can get the sound I want is to hit the mixing board with a hammer, then I hit the mixing board with a hammer" or something like that.
I can remember throwing drum cases off a balcony (circa 1977), recording the splat and slowing it down to half speed in order to get the noise we wanted.
So if you THINK that adding a pickup to a Sterling would make you happy, then you should do it...but there are other options.
It's your bass. Do what you want. Just know that if it had been a really good idea, EBMM would have already done it.

Is adding a pup really going to fix matters or is it going to mask what the underlying issues are??? Just think about what you are doing before you cut into your bass, because once you do there is no going back (I cut into an old Gibson bass of mine have been slapping myself on the head ever since).
If you can't get the sound you want from one of the Bongo pup configurations, there are issues. It is by far one of the most versitle stock pup options on the market today (and I have owned my share of basses - my 3 Bongos are the only ones I have been happy with, sonically, without any adjustments).
As for the looks, you'll get over them - I thought the same thing and have grown to love them. Like Jack and some of the other Bongo owners here, my Bongos are the only basses I have ever had people come up and comment on, men and women alike (that includes 2 custom headless 6-string basses, a 12 string, a Fender custom shop, a Warwick, a Lakland, and an original Tobias - among others). It is kind of nice when non-music people notice what you are playing.
