I'm pulling the trigger on a new EBMM for Xmas.

I am currently down to 2 (from 6 at one point). My "daily driver" is a base JP6. No Piezo and no shield inlays. I also have a 25th that I play occasionally but I play mostly Prog Metal so the Petrucci gets played most of the time.

I own an Ibanez RG7 that I play a bit but I dont think spending 3k on a JP7 makes sense considering the amount of playing time my 7 string gets so I am considering just a 6 at this point.

Money is really no object. 3k or so is fine.

So far my #1 choice is an Island Burst JP6 BFR.

I would like to get some sort of special edition something or other. Like a Roasted Neck/Rosewood Neck or something.

What do you guys think?

I'm facing the same dilemma. I thought it might be better to wait until after NAMM, but I don't know if I can do it:)

Well if you are playing prog metal then what better choice than the guitar used by the reigning king of prog. If you want to go all out then get exactly what you said your #1 choice is, the IB BFR JP or the GC exclusive Turquoise RM JP.

after many years of "settling" with guitars and amps i'm now a firm believer that if you have your eye set on something just do it you'll save yourself the time and money by getting what you want in the first place...

+1

Its a JP, a GC exclusive run, roasted neck & could be a nice rarity.

I also have my eye on that GC Turquoise Roasted Neck JP. I think I might be happier with the BFR however buy who knows.

If I already had your guitars and I was in the progmetal corner of stuff, I'ld opt for the IB BFR. JP6, BFR JP6 and 25th...nice collection of sounds. That turquoise JP6 hit a sweet spot with me though...and the Gamechanger lurks around the corner to complicate things...Tough choice mate!

Forget all these. Just get a JPX.
