Hey guys, Im relatively new to the EBMM world, am looking to make my first purchase and considering all my options. My question is around ordering a new EBMM through a dealer. Im from Melbourne, Australia and there is a local dealer (part of the Premium Dealer Network i beleive) that has been dealing with EBMM for 20 Years and i have spoken to them about putting in an order for a new JP6. I was informed that it could possibly be up to a 5 month wait to get my new guitar, which is fine with me, but i was wondering what exactly can you order to customise that guitar? The guy at the shop was very helpful and said on the regular JP6 aside from options like colour, piezo pickup option, inlays/Paint matched headstock you cannot for example ask for a BFR neck, or a JPX neck to be installed on the JP6 etc. That is totally understandable, so my question specifically relates to hardware. Things like pickup surrounds, Volume and tone pot knobs (colour)bridge colour, tuning pegs, all of that stuff. Is there any way you can get some of the non regular colours to be installed on the new JP6 when it is built in the factory? Obviously the actual hardware will be the same, just wondering about colours and finishes and mixing them up with your order. Any information on this subject would be very helpful. Cheers

No! If you click onto the instrument section of the site it will list all available finishes for said model and what options are availble -such as a Piezo. But there is no mixing and matching of various hardware from other models nor other finish options except what is listed. But every year there are always a few special runs or Limited Editions produced that keep everyone more than satisfied.

Yes they did mention that they do the occasional limited run of certain parts like the roasted maple or all rosewood necks. Do you think it would be worth waiting for one of these options or will it be a while before their next one? Is there anyway to get any other aesthetic hardware for your EBMM? Not that it's needed they are beautiful guitars, just interested!

Nobody knows what or when the limited editions will be until they are announced. Waiting is an option but you may be waiting a very long time for what you want to appear. I'd say just go ahead and order now. If something tasty is announced before your guitar ships, maybe you could change the order? Can't hurt to ask, eh?

Some of the parts (like the locking tuners or control knobs) you could replace with parts you buy yourself. Any EBMM-specific hardware is not usually available to buy, AFAIK.

And welcome to the forum!

We don't know of any special edition options until EB announces them. Lately there have been only 1 or 2 limited runs a year.

On the standard JP model you have the following options:

6 or 7 string
Body color (if choosing "stealth black" you get all black hardware, satin black paint & ebony fretboard)
Matching/painted headstock or plain/natural
Dot fretboard inlays or JP shield inlays
Standard JP tremolo or JP piezo tremolo

You can order different tuner buttons (metal vs pearloid) from Stew Mac -- the JP ships with pearloid unless you go stealth.
There are no pickup surrounds so that's not an option. The pickups (bobbins) come in black (the stealth pickups have black pole pieces).
The JP volume knobs come in black with a black ring. Any aftermarket knobs would need to fit solid-shaft pots & have a tension screw.
