I use Fender x-heavy picks. I prefer the tortise shell-----just a visual thing there. I use EB 10-46 and I turn my pick side ways like Pat Metheny does(in other words I use the side instead of the small end) and I use a travis picking style most of the time. Once I turned my pick side ways---it was like the heavens parted for me!!!!! I finally started getting some speed. Just could never get used to using a pick normally.

I barely have any of the tip of the pick sticking out past my fingers, helps alot w/ faster picking (which I'm still terrible at, unfortunately).

If I depart from my beloved Delrin 2mm, it will probably be for Fender Medium, Heavy or Extra Heavy white celluloid picks, depending on how thin a pick I can tolerate.

Then again, if the 2mm isn't causing me any problems, maybe I should just leave well enough alone?

Fender picks??? GHS strings????? :O what is this blasphemy?!?!?! :D

I know-- my next trip to GC will involve some Not Even Slinky strings and probably some EB celluloid picks.

I will be surprised if anyone else uses these - I use Jim Dunlop 0.20 Stainless Steel standard picks. They give me a rather interesting attack, and, believe it or not, they do not slice through strings. They do wear down, although much slower than anything else I have personally used. And they certainly draw attention - out of my first bag of 36 I have about 8 left. We rarely play a gig where someone doesn't come up and ask for a pick as they have never seen them before. Soundmen, drunks at bars, and kids at outdoor festivals have all begged picks from me. With that sort of attention, I can't say no.......

I know what you mean = I once used razor blades as picks (didn't cut myself - much!)

I use Dunlop Jazz III's (black), and Cool Picks Jazz 1.2. Those pics of Pete's brother trying out the Y2D while eating the KFC are hilarious. LMAO every time I see 'em.

I use the tortex pics, the purple one, l don't know how thick they are, l've been using them for years now and just can't remember what size they are, the are a small pick, at times l use a bass pick. I used to hate those big flimzy picks, even these extra heavy ones, when l found these picks it was like a god send. I use 9-42's on my guitars, and Not Even Slinkys if l tune right down (which is rare).

Wow! Most of you guys use really thick picks! How do you fit them between the strings? ;)

I use .5mm Claytons . I just feel slow and clumsy with anything thicker. I find it strange that everyone else seems to find picking easier with thicker picks!

I find l have more control over the pick and my picking, l find it harder playing with a big flimbzy pick, an old band mate used to use big thin nylon picks and l found it harder to play with, and my sound wasn't as full in your face kind of thing. It's amasing how much your picks affect your sound.

I'm using the Jazz III XLs (either black or red) for the electrics. Sometimes I'll use Fender or Ibanez Heavys. I use 10-46 gauge on my guitars.

For acoustic, I use Fender Celluloid Mediums or Thins.
