On the DVD, he is using a JP with some sort of 20th looking pickups.

It was a prototype for the BFR. He used one on Score that was like a hybrid of the JP and the 20th Silo, it had the color, woods, and pickups of the 20th but everything else of a JP. On the SC DVD, he used another prototype, which I think is just like a BFR but it has neck binding and pickup mounts, and probably other stuff that I can't notice. There were probably other prototypes that we didn't see, but those are the only two that I know about.

You might find better answers to these types of questions on the JP forum. The guys over there know their stuff when it comes to everything JP.

I definitely know its been talked about before. There were pics of the guitar that he used on Systematic Chaos as well. Congrats on your 666th post Stratty!

I have the Score DVD and I love the first proto. I think he sounded better with that than with his usual pickups

The prototypes had his normal pickups for the most part.

The Score prototype had DiMarzio Virtual Vintage PAF's. The Virtual Vintage PAF's were replaced by the 36th Anniversary PAF's.

Yeah, the Score guitar is the one I meant. That thing just looks like classy in "guitar-form".
I'm not convinced by the pickup rings and neither was I bet considering they never made it onto the BFR.
Hendog its all in the hands anyway. JP might change pickup configurations like his knickers but I think any JP guitar and decent rig will get you closer than obsessing about trivial things.

You sort of sound like a prick. Maybe its the Scottish wording, but you sound like your giving me a hard time for wondering what guitar someone is playing. In fact you even said "obsessing".

Easy there, killer. No need to call somebody a prick for voicing their opinion. Like most threads here, you can find the answers by searching the forum. With all the JP related questions, especially about amps/rigs, you'd be better off searching the JP forum. This isn't the Mesa board, its the EB board.
