ok, so i am at band practice, and mid song the bas cuts out for a second...i become confused, but i let it go by, then at the end of the song, it cuts out a lot, and the sound becomes intermitent. now, i know ur all thinking battery..i was too, so i replaced the battery...no sound what so ever...so now i;m kinda ticked my bass doesn't play. i put the old battery back in and it played for about 1 more song. and u guessed it it died. i think it's the battery..but i have only sued the battery for like 1month tops....wtf happened? i never leave it plugged in...

but there is another side of this story....the battrey enclosure doesn't close to wel right now...i had to push the battrey in more than usuall to get it so click, and even thought it clicks, it still pops back out...if it's my battrey enclosure..how much will it cost to replace...or is it under warrenty...

help me...anyone! and

I seem to remember a thread on this just recently...don't know if it was this forum or another one....anyway, I can't find it....always the way....:(

From memory, there was a problem with the actual battery sizes!!!!....dimensional...and consequently, wasn't making proper contact inside the battery compartment....I never checked back into the thread so I don't know how the situation turned out.

Compare the size of the old one with the newer one. That may be the reason you had probs closing the compartment!!!!

>>>>>but i have only sued the battery for like 1month tops....wtf happened? i never leave it plugged in...

It may have been sitting on the shelf for some time...I've been caught with "fresh" batteries...

well, actually the battrey size is different. and i had just bought the battrey, and i tested it the good old fashioned tongue test:p  and it had plenty of bite. i usually search a pack of batteries to find a similar sized one that fits.

so appreciate the input, i jsut want to get a handle on this incase it is a big problem, but i cam't see it being my MM..it's just to perfect!:D

bit late but i find duracel fit nicely, some of the cheaper ones are too fat at the bottom and cause the holder to get stuck, mine got stuck in the studio so we had a good hours panic over why it wasnt working then another hours panic over why the holder wouldnt open....

stupid battery manufacturers :p

I know this is probably a stupid suggestion, but have you checked your cable from amp to MM?

Suggesting this because ive had faulty cables that would cut out the sound on my bass in practices when moved slightly, wanted to save money and perservere with the cables i had (Thats right, i had THREE cables taht didnt work right) but then i gave in and decided to use the cable that i got with the bass that i wanted to reserve for a bit more and it worked fine (and still does!).

Just my 2p's worth (or 2 cents in fact)

yah know, i thought that too..it's a possiblity.. but i plan on getting new cables some time in the near future. as in tomorrow coincidence...although every cable i buy, my guitarist's seems to steal after a show..so i keep using my old cable i have had for like a year and a half...very,very annoying. and one of our guitarists is a girl...and i would feel bad about ranting on how f***ing annoying it is to get my nice cables taken.. I BUY THEM FOR ME! not that i don't like sharing..but cables are expensive!arg!

Just my take, but I have Monster running in every aspect of my guitar rig. I've invested about $250 into cables alone.

A) The clarity in my signal is well-noticed, and I am very pleased with the final product because of its contribution to my sound.

B) Monster Cable has a lifetime warranty; you could essentially chop one in half, walk into your local music store with it in hand, and walk out with a new one, no questions asked.

I'm sorry to be endorsing another product on the EBMM site, but look at my sig...EBMM is well taken care of by me also. :) My point is just that if you're gonna do it, do it right.

Take care!

I had the same problem a few months ago, but it turned out to be the input on my rig. All i did was take some alchohol on a q-tip and run it in the input, fixed it right up. If none of the others fix it then u can try this as a last option.

Have you solved the problem yet?

I had this problem a few weeks back, the sound kept cutting out every so often (see "Is My StingRay killing my little Amp??" thread)

I narrowed it down to the actual Jack input socket, as every time I touched the cable towards the amp end it would start playing up.

This was confirmed by Soundtech who repair Hartke Amps for the UK, who had to re-solder the jack socket. I had taken a look at the input socket for myself and decided I didn't want to attempt it myself as the socket was encased and attached to the circuit board.

£50 well spent (they had to replace a knob as well) as I no longer spend 2 hours every Saturday night, standing rigid still, sweating buckets waiting for the bass to cut out mid- song.

To be honest with you I've had both of these cables I gave away the Planet Wave cable because all though it was a good cable it was not what I exspected.I wont even go there with Monster Cable  I now use the Fender Pro-tone cables and this cable is real, real, real, nice it is a well made cable and it really brings out the tone in your instrument.

The EB battery compartment will do that, on another thread someone actually changed their battery compartment with one made by Fender. When you have a problem with the compartment closing the battery is not seating all the way inside, it is not hitting the contacts inside. I have used a few different batteries and have had it happen with different battery manufacturerers including duracell. The first time I changed my battery this was the problem that I ran into. If you look inside the battery compartment there are holes cut out for the battery contacts, if your battery doesn't exactly seat inside those holes it will ride up on the plastic battery and will not get contact. If the battery is too long it should still get contact but it will not close properly. Still you may be facing another problem, this is what I had found with my SR5.:D
