My girlfriend is a bass player and she asked me about getting a purple sterling. I checked the site, and saw no purple. I noticed a general lack of purple, green and pink on the standard models (non signature.) Where'd they go? Are they coming back? I always see such amazing pics of trans purple, trans pink, and trans green music man guitars on ebay. I know they're not conventional guitar colors, but they're soooo cooool.

I think Purple is awesome and so is green, but I dont think majority of guitar players and bass players do. They simply dont sell, as BP said...especially green for some reason. There is a REALLY awesome purple Silo Special on ebay...just like Vinnie Moore with a rosewood board and the Music Man vintage trem. If I had enough money I would snag that right away!

Oh, and I am so glad I got my Purple Sunset Y2D :D!!! One of the most beautiful finishes ever! I'm sure you agree my friend :).

There's also a pink EVH on there which is outrageous looking, but the guy wants 10,500 for it. Don't hold your breath hahahaha.

I just figured that since these guitars are made to order, it wouldn't matter what colors they had since the stores would pick the colors. I'm sure there's more to it than that though.

I was paraphrasing BP there ... green has never been a big seller (to the retail stores ... we're freaks here so don't really represent the bulk of MM buyers). Basically they only keep so many colours in the system- every year the ones that don't get any love are discontinued.

one day some hotshot guitar player will play only green guitars then green will be a fashionable colour for guitars. cant wait... i reckon green guitars are awesome. if i wasnt so obsessed with natural grain finish guitars i'd be all about the greens

Speaking from a retail standpoint. Green and Purple are the toughest guitars to sell. However give me mint green any day! I had a dark green string ray 4 in my store. I probably sold 5 to 1 before it was said and done. I also had an green strat that was a beast to sell. I thought it was going to the grave with me. I mean you have those guys that love odd ball stuff. But the majority of buyers want black, sunburst and white. Best Selling colors in the music retail business.
