What is a Piezo bridge?

sorry, another newbie-ish question, but hey, i am a newbie . what is the piezo?

A piezo is a bridge mounted type of pup that relies on the pressure of the strings against the saddles to generate a signal. When the strings are strummed, the piezo senses the vibration, creating the signal. This gives the characteristic acoustic sound.
