I watched it repeatedly until I got my Y2D
Have to admit ... I still watch this :) I downloaded 'em and transcoded to mpeg so I can zip through them quickly- there are some really cool bits he plays that I like to work out.

Prob'ly time to update the tour dates though ;)

Btw I agree with Colin- sounds like he's straight into the amp. Probably just some ambience from the room.

How did you download them ?
In the third video, there is a part I absolutely wanna learn. It starts approximately at the half of the vid, after the part played with the volume knob and is played using the right index finger to fret harmonics. It really doesn't sound like an improv so from which song does it come ?
I LOVE it !

the song is called "sometimes I feel like screaming" . I love this song, IMO it is the best Deep Purple with Steve song

I love the part before the harmonics- the tone and then the vol control swells. Some really nice stuff in there.

The Flash files aren't streamed, they're downloaded and so are in your cached Internet files directory. If you know what you're doing, just watch them then go to that directory and sort by date or size, presto .flv files. The drawback is you need an FLV player to watch them (there are a bunch, Google them). There are also a few applications that will let you download FLV files from your browser and rip them out of the embedded .swf player.

Then you can use a program like MediaCoder (free) to transcode to any format you like. For figuring out parts I demux (rip out) the audio and convert to .mp3. Finally, you can use a program like Ronimusic's "Amazing Slow Downer" to loop sections within the mp3s and slow them down or change pitch. Makes figuring stuff out a breeze.

I know that sounds like a bit of a pain but it's worth getting the hang of

Here's that vid transcoded to mpeg. (Right-click and "save as".)

ive been trying for what seems like years to download those vids, they are slow to watch on the site.

one possibility to save vids from youtube is to enter the link (for example
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_k6WZqBFSDQ"]YouTube - Ernie Ball - Steve Morse Talks With Sterling Ball #1[/ame]
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lkI3Kffq4H4"]YouTube - Ernie Ball - Steve Morse Talks With Sterling Ball #2[/ame]
[nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44-q_flFb-k"]YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.[/nomedia])
on KeepVid: Download videos from Google, Youtube, iFilm, Putfile, Metacafe, DailyMotion! and then save the file in the ".flv"-format.

for watching, there is also a flv-player on keepvid.com to download.

I tryied it with the cache also, but i think (not sure about this), that the cache-thing doesn´t work on youtube, but maybe I´me wrong

ps. beej, you were faster. after typipng, I discovered you gave the information :)

Just in that short clip, Steve sounds like he's playing through 3 different amps and 4 different guitars. Talk about dialed in! I'm gonna guess, though, that he brought his own amp. (?)
