Thank you all for your kind response.:)

Hyggelig å treffe deg også, Ritchie!

And Moondog is right about the Ampeg rig being the most popular amongst norwegians. It's almost the only brand you get on gigs where an amp is provided for you around here. Some have been very good ( SVT/Pro/Classic series stuff), some not so good.

Also in continuing this thread, you can be as specific as you like, for instance:
Tube amps vs. solid state amps
10 inch speakers vs. 15 inch speakers...and so on.
What do you prefer, and why?

Also after looking around a bit on this forum,I have to say: It seems to be a really good forum!:)

If weight is a concern, I think Epifani Ultra Light amps and cabs are the cat's meow also. But I like GK amps just fine. And Bag End cabs are great for the light weight set.

Hey Kennet - I use a Mesa Boogie Walkabout Scout with my Ray. Don't let the size of this 1x12 combo put you off. It has a BIG sound. Being able to remove the amp to use with different cabs is also a nice touch. All the best with your quest!

I also use a Walkabout Scout 1x12 combo. It loves my Bongos. The feeling is mutual, too. :D

If I need to get any louder, I add an Aguilar s210 that I got for a steal when MF was blowing them out. It was so cheap, I don't feel bad when it sits in the closet waiting to rock.

The Jerry Jones has since been traded for a Dark Star'd Starfire that was traded for credit towards a Bongo 5H.

I have owned a few amps and really they all sound good with EBMM basses.

The amps Id recommend the most would be an Ampeg SVT Classic, and Ernie Ball MusicMan HD-500 (if you can find one used), EA iAmp, and my favorite two have been and Eden WT-400 or a GK 1001RB-II.

If youre looking for cabs, IMO Bergantino cabs are IT.

I use my Stingray on an EBS Fafner head and EBS 410 cab. great head and cab! Very versatile EQ, loud, and sounds damn good. Boost the middles, and you've got punch all the way!!!

But in the beginnen, it's not easy to find 'your' sound, because of the versatile eq, other than that, I can only recommend these amps

I use an ampeg stvt 3 pro, and an ampeg svt IIp preamp. The 3 pro gives the growl, and a modern touch while the 2 P completes vith a fat tubey warm sound.
From the mid selector I dial lo mids with 3 pro and high mids with svt 2P, it is cool to have two parametric mids :) I use a compressor between them (the old symetrix 501), and send the line out from the 2p which sounds much better. Our sound guy always let my channel on 0, no inserts, no corrections.
Other thing is that I use the ampeg 410 HLF which gives me a sound very similar with the sound on the PA. The 810 feels much better, but the truth you hear in 410 HLF IMO.

I forgot, I hate the solid state sound. The 9 band EQ section on both preamps are with ss. When I push the eq button, with the eq flat something like 10% of the sound quality dissapears. And I use Monster cable... actualy you can hear the difference between that and a regular cable :)
Sorry if I wrote too much :)

I use an SWR SM500 w/2-Peavey 4x10 cabs. Have used it for years with my SR5's
and have never played through any other rigs that made me want to change.
