The oldest guitar I've ever owed (and still own) is a 1980 Fender Lead II

Damn thing's heavy enough to do some decent arm curls with!

I used to have a '72 LP Standard for a brief period. Now the oldest thing that I have buried somewhere is an older Yamaha 12-string accoustic....I can only guess how old it is. (late 70's or early 80's I suppose)

A 1964 Jazz bass that had turned from red to pink. It wasn't such a big deal at the time as it was less than ten years old and no one thought of them as vintage - just old. Playing a pink Jazz in certain Deep South beer joints could be an adventure.

Also had a 1956 Gibson Les Paul Junior sunburst with a P90 that had been microphonic since God was a corporal but still was a great R&R guitar.

Wish I had 'em both back now, if only to sell them again for more money.

WAY more money.

The oldest guitar I owe is an early 70s Shergold doubleneck (Mike Rutherford of Genesis played one at the time). Comes in an amazingly large burlap covered case.

Although I am not rich enough to own one, a guy once let me try an old beaten up 1957 Strat that was, at the time, his regular player. I had always been really sceptical about "vintage" guitars but this was the most amazing sounding guitar I have ever played. Unfortunately they are all in glass cases now.

My oldest guitar, still in the family, 1973 Silvertone Tele'ish copy. Now striped up with a humbucker.
Oldest amp, 1966 or so Gretsch Pro Bass. Very cool, 1x15", two knobs, that's it...

The two oldest I had were a 1955 Les Paul Junior and a 1961 SG/Les Paul Custom. I had a ton of 60's era SG's and sold most of them 10-12 years ago around the $2500 mark; they are now worth ten times that. Bummer.

I own three from my grandfathers: A beaten and battered Gene Autry guitar from the 1930s that the grandfather who taught me my first chords sold seeds to get, a 1960s model Kay hollowbody electric (the Sears version) from the same grandfather and a 1950s or '60s model Silvertone acoustic from my maternal grandfather. None of them worth a thing, but I still wouldn't let go of any of them.

Of the ones I actually play occasionally, the oldest is a 1976 Carvin CB100 bass. Don't think it's worth much either, but it does have some history since it was the first model of stereo bass that Carvin made. Hope to upgrade to a Sterling soon.

The first great guitar I have, and I still own it, is a Lado Classics Hawk, with a neck-through-body, built in the late 80', with Floyd Rose II and HS Lado pickup configuration. It's an hand made axe, made here in Canada. That was my dream guitar at the moment. It's stand on the wall of the store 3 years at the price of 2395.00$CAD before I buy it. A day, when I go buy some strings set for my cheap Aria, they put the sale price down to 1200$CAD. I have it since 1991 and still my main guitar until I have my new BFR F1 (soon I hope!!!!!!!!).
